Will they fit/rub?!
Hey all, I recently bought a set of 19x9 et35/19x10 et38 wheels and interested in others opinions on tire size selection.
I've been leaning towards 245/35 in front and 275/30 in rear and wondering if this will create any rubbing issues or extremely rough ride on stock suspension? I havn't found any testimonials on this forum of rubbing but want to make sure before I buy tires. Any issues with 245/40 up front and 275/35? |

I have 245/40 on 19x8.5" ET35, and 275/35 on 19x9.5" ET42; stock M adaptive dampers with x-drive. At partial- and full-lock, the fronts get extremely close to front of fender liner. A different setup, but maybe gives you some idea - not sure, how more aggressive offset would work, though.

I have exactly 19x9 et35 and 19x10 et38 wheels and have 235/35r19 and 265/30r19 because I was informed by the place I bought them that they are likely to rub on an f30 with m sport suspension.
I traded that 328i in and have the same wheels on an f32 435i, and I'm REASONABLY sure they would fit the size I desired. Which was 245/35 and 275/30. Once I burn through these, I will definitely give it a shot. 435i is also on 704 m sport suspension. On both cars I require 5mm spacers on the rears, and on the f32 it makes for a mint fitment. Was too wide and poked over an inch on the f30. Hope that helps.

A beautiful and interesting place. It's the Val Tremola road - the old St. Gotthard Pass, Switzerland. Inside of the mountain on the right is the new St. Gotthard road tunnel. And underneath is the newest, 15 km long Gotthard base tunnel.

FWIW... I got 19x9 et 38 and I rub with 235/40-19 because it's about .4" larger in diameter. I'm dropped about .4" up front. The rub is the bumper to fender tab in the wheel well. I don't rub around town under normal driving/low-speed... but rather 80mpg+ and deep road dips/bumps (forced/fast compression). If I go completely back to stock height, that might do the trick but... what fun is that?
It seems the taller tire doesn't get the nice arc/tuck into the wheel well so it rubs the darn tab. Per https://tiresize.com/calculator/ A 245/35 is 25.8" - so slightly shorter than the stock 26" of the 225/45-18. That should fit fine with no rub... and my next tire choice too. |
