So I have a friend. He is deciding between 2 cars. These 2 cars has almost identical spec, and about 5 months difference in age

1st car was registered in October 2017 with 16800 mileage. It has m sport plus package, m performance exhaust and HUD. The price £25750

2nd car was registered on March 2018 with 17500 miles. It has professional media package. The price is 23000.

So basically with 2750 difference in price. Which one should he go for?

Keep in mind these 2 car is almost identical in extra features except the ones listed above

Both cars will have 12 month warranty from the day of purchase

Sorry I might have confused you. Both are in m sport body style. Have the same appearance. Just that the other has m sport plus package which has black wing mirror and m sport seat belts. HUD and m performance exhaust. The other has m sport pro media. Does the overall difference warrant the difference in price?

I choose the 1st car.
HUD is part of technology package( don't know about where you from)
M-performance exhaust is $1000+

On the 2nd car , I don't know or heard of m-sport pro media.... what is that?

I live here in U.K and since we are looking at used cars. They don't really bundle them up i packages. They just list the extra features on the car. They both have m sport body style though. Main difference is the HUD and exhaust. Does that 2, including the mileage and the age of the car worth the extra 2750? I'm not really expert on the packages of the car, so I can't really give a good advice. So I'm asking in this forum

Try the regional forum... UK forum... you might get faster answer. Or you can wait until someone from UK look at the general forum.

You seem like you know the packages of the car. What would you recommend to my friend? He just really want to get the best for his money. Is 2750 alot? considering the 1st car might be older in age, but has ran fewer milegae and has HUD and m performance exhaust?

The thing is here in UK. The manufacturer's warranty only lasts for 3 years. So 2017 car and 2018 car at this point in time doesn't have much difference in terms of warranty if you buy from approved dealers as they always give 12 months warranty.

I'd buy the cheaper one with longer factory warranty, assuming it wasn't red.

The factory warranty on the cheaper last until march next year. So that leaves about 11 months, while the more expensive one, they will give you 12 months of warranty. The warranty will not really matter as both car will have a 12 month warranty from the day of purchase

The HUD is worth every cent, one of my favorite features. The exhaust and spoiler are pluses, I would present the offer of car #2 and say you are willing to pay 1/2 the upgrade, HUD is $1,100, Exhaust is $1,200 and Spoiler is $300 (my guess), that is $1,300 adder for the upgraded car... my half Pound worth.

We did try to get the price lowered down. But 25750 is the fixed price they can offer. But yeah, I think the extra features worth the extra price. I guess he just thinks he can get the extra features later, but I don't think you could retrofit HUD, but even if you could, buying it and fitting it might cost him more with the addition of m performance exhaust

My recent experience is that listings fall into two areas.

Times have changed in the advent of the internet and ease of shopping on line. First is the low cost listing that shows up in your internet vehicle search, pick your model, options and sort from low cost to high. Usually a set price to sell is to land into the "Low Dollar" search, that is why (at least here in USA), the search says this model has a 60% chance of selling in 4 days (or something similar to that).

Second is the models that do not fall into the above category. These other vehicles may have just been turned in (new listing), dealer will see if someone buys high, it may be a special color (individual or model specific as Estoril Blue), special rare option package (Track Package). These may be the negotiable vehicles and do not fall into the "Low Price" filter... yet.

That being said, my 335i was totaled several months ago and I bid on 4 different used BMW's, no one came off of listing price. Two were special models, a Jahare M3 and a Individual Color M4. The other was a standard base M4 and the vehicle I bought, a 440i Individual. The 440i just was lowered in price due to being on lot for 60 days and I will not complain at cost.

One additional note, when the financial crisis transpired last decade, the cost of used cars went up as people had less money, they did not buy new. Good luck, no matter which decision, it will be the right one.

2017 for me in retrospect as it is a great spec, slightly older, but lower mileage and as has been said the tasty extras are worth a LOT more than the difference, as no doubt it would get an exhaust mod at some point, already done.
I have M sport plus package and it is a nice upgrade, I have the digital cockpit but not too sure if that's part of the plus package.
Good luck with the choice, both nice cars.

Next question then is what colours are they, as colour will certainly impact his choice also

In fairness though, funny stuff happens lol as when I went looking for mine, the colour I said to myself i didn't want which is Black, is exactly what I ended up with and I absolutely love it lol

Makes his decision easier then seeing as both the same, would have been tough if one was not a first choice colour but maybe the better choice financially, been there and done that

I loved my Alpine white 340 too, great colour for sure.
