Seeking advice about oil change, US spec being used in Europe, 640i N55 engine.

Hey everyone,
I'm planning to do an engine oil change for my 2015 BMW F06 with the N55 engine, and I'm seeking some advice on which oil to use. I've been considering Liqui Moly Leichtlauf High Tech 5W40, or should i go with 5W30? Summer temperatures can reach as high as 40° C or 104° F, but they are usually around 33° C or 91° F. Car has 80k miles.
Additionally, I'm curious about the differences between the US and EU formulas of engine oil. My car is US spec but i am currently living in Europe.
Would it be okay to opt for a EU formula, or are there significant distinctions I should be aware of?
Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

There are literally thousands of posts debating the 'best' oil in these forums: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/fo...play.php?f=437

The TLDR is just pick an approved oil and run a reasonably short OCI and you will be fine.

No bother! Just saying the "which oil is best" question gets asked over and over and there's never a clear winner. Just pointing you to the endless debate should you care to read what people think.

Personally dont know enough about the US vs. EU formulas but you should be able to find a LL or whatever the applicable certification is. I have used that exact liqui moly kit from FCP euro before, it works fine. You can also just get OEM BMW oil change kits

No need to mess with viscosity if you haven’t changed any tolerances in your engine.

Stick with bmw-ll-04 5w-30 and you are good, change oil with tight interval and use MANN filters.

I run Motul 8100 x-clean efe 5w-30 on my stage2+ 435i with no issues. It is a slightly thicker 30 oil fyi

Hey thank you for the reply,
Would a Ll-04 Oil be okay considering my owners manual recommends LL-01 or LL-01 FE?

If you aren't in Europe you wanna use the US spec oil.. it has to do with the additives in the fuel.

Then use euro spec oil. Use what ever weight fits your climate.

When your manual was printed the US had not yet transitioned to ULSG. LL01/01fe are for fuels with higher levels of sulfur.

LL04 is for ULSD/ULSG. BMW has been on LL04 for almost 20 years in the EU.
