[Newbie] Where Should I Mount My Wheels?
Hello.
I'm almost ashamed to make this thread because of how ridiculous it is that a BMW owner doesn't know where to mount his wheels, lol. But anyway, this is my first time changing wheels to 'aftermarket' on any car EVER and I would like to know where is a good place to safely and properly change my wheels? I have an F36 and I wanna replace the stock 400M wheels for the 763M wheels. So I have to move the TPMS from the stock wheels over to the new one and I was wondering if generic stores such as (discount tires/firestone) and such are worth going to or do we have to go to proper aftermarket shops? Because I've tried calling the dealership (BMW) and they won't do it because we didn't buy it there, lol. Advice please! Thank you! |

if i were you, i'd buy another set of tpms for the 763M. don't buy it from bmw, though.
i would have it mounted at a tuner shop where they mount large diameter wheels with low profile tires often. they usually have the proper equipment and know how to mount and balance high performance wheels. it may cost a bit more but it's better than letting someone inexperienced and disinterested, handle it. |

Does the $240 quote include RoadForce balancing? If yes - the price is within the range of being reasonable.
Since you live in Atlanta, there are many good shops there. Try contacting local BMW CCA chapter, go to Tirerack website and identify local installers in the area. There is always Yelp! |

For reference, we charge $15/wheel for mount and road force balance. I HAVE been to shops that charge a bit more for TPMS swaps but $240 is on the steep side.

So I called a very reputable german tuner shop and they quoted me at 45/wheel.
The other shop that quoted me at 240 is a wheel/tire shop specialist. But I'm guessing since the shop deals with all kinds of BMWs that they should be able to do it properly. |
