Brake pad sensors

About 12k miles ago I replaced discs and pads all round and reused the sensors as they hadn’t triggered. All has been fine, but tonight I have a red warning saying front pads need replacing now. When I put my winters on the pads had loads of material on them - and that was a couple of weeks ago. Last set of pads lasted 50k miles so I’m confident they are not worn out.

Do the sensors break? If so, can I replace it without taking the pads out or do the pads need to come out (I didn’t look before as I swapped the sensor before the pads were in the Caliper).

And finally is there a sensor on each side (I can’t remeber!)

Thanks!

Best to fit a new genuine sensor and reset the brake service indicator, the old one is obviously compromised in some way.

Only sensor on one side.

Nice one, which side?
And I’ve got the m sport plus callipers - can I pop the sensor off without removing the pads?

Yes you can. The sensor just pops in.

You probably didn’t reset the brake service in the onboard computer, which is mileage based. I had the same issue.
I only replace the sensor if I damage it removing it from the pad. Not resetting the onboard computer is the only issue I’ve had.

Yes, I did reset it.

It was showing 60,000 miles or something remaining
