Coding to change the amp's DSP/EQ settings?
Has anyone managed to do this? There aren't a lot of obvious settings in e-sys for the amp, but i wonder if anyone has dug in more to hack at it and change the dsp curves?
Someone did something like this on the e series z4 amp to swap dsp curves from the roadster into the coupe: https://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=982412 |

You can change from Stereo to HiFi. Other than that, ain’t possible!

I'm fairly certain he's referring to the HK amp, and yes I'm pretty sure it's possible but nobody has taken the time to figure it out yet. I recently changed the profile on mine from f30 to f10 to see what happened, but I only hear subtle changes. Will try some more eventually.
Most likely this changes the speaker time delay based on the speaker layout, and maybe the eq curve too. |

Besides car type and soundsystem type there is also coding for EQ variant in Esys. But I have never really tried them.
I can‘t imagine that this will result in any real improvement. |

There are definitely significant differences in the DSP EQ from one vehicle to the next. You aren't going to do yourself any favors by switching. If anyone tells you that they switched their amp coding to a different vehicle and it sounded better, the only thing that tells you is you should stop listening to anything they say about audio
This is two channels from the HK amp (underseat woofer and front midrange-tweeter) from 3 different F3x vehicles. There are obviously significant EQ differences, some correct and some not so much. HK Amp Output Signal: Front Midrange Tweeter Red = F36 Yellow = F30/F80 Orange = F32/F82 Underseat Woofer Blue = F36 Purple = F30/F80 Light Blue = F32/F82 View post on imgur.com

The main reason for an EQ pre-shape change is that each chassis variation has its own road noise signature. The EQ is set up in part so that the road noise doesn't mask specific frequencies from the audio. Changing the EQ to a different curve may accentuate frequencies that don't need accentuation, and attenuate frequencies that shouldn't be attenuated.

Not in this case, no. All of that EQ is based on H/B's attempts to correct transfer function only.

Kevin, do you have any other frequency response graphs such as the f10 or even the rolls royce profiles from the hk amp?

Also, audio is and always will be something that comes down to personal preference. I find it pretty inflammatory to say that if someone says they think one profile sounds better than the other that you should assume they know nothing about audio...

Not-the OE
The main reason why I would want to do this would be when running the HK amp in the wrong chassis. I.E. at the time of writing, I had a 2012 F30 HK amp with a 2018 F82's NBT EVO in a 2007 E91.
I had updated the EVO to an F31 profile, which is pretty close, but I hadn't updated the amp at the time. Pretty sure I had updated and coded the amp as F31, but the car was totaled 3 months later when some asshat in a rav4 was texting and cut right across the double yellow into me. Parts have been sitting in a bin in the garage since then, but some day I'll probably get around to installing them either in my '09 E91 or I'll finally make the jump to F34 or F36
