Picking up a 2014 328i this week
I found a 2014 328i with the M-sport package, lighting package, and it's CPO with 21,000 miles listed as $30K. I formally owned an E46 330i, but I sold it as it was very in reliable once it hit 160K+.
I am wondering if this car will be faster than the former car, as well as more reliable. The car has the Estroli Blue matte trim in the interior so it's pretty sick lol. What can I expect? Will I be able to talk down the price? I'm just worried something doesn't feel right here, even though the car fax is clean. Should I just get a new F30 instead of CPO? Like what if they're hiding issues not on the car fax lmao. I would get a 340i or even a 335i, but the newer 340i's are pricey (~55K when you get all the good packages), and it's hard to find 335i's at dealerships (and I h8 private party's haha). So like what should I do here. Do I pull the trigger on this whip or nah? |

Fuck I just read that these engines blow up often. Should I not buy one then?

They don't blow up often. Every car model has some failures here and there, and everyone has the chance of being the unlucky soul who has to deal with it. Hundreds of thousands of them have been sold in the US since 2012 and if they were failing regularly it would be a huge, huge deal all over the internet and not just a random post or three.
That being said, a friend's girlfriend just bought a lightly used '16 Toyota Corolla that had been a dealership fleet car (sigh...Corolla..sigh). One of the leading reasons she bought it was Corolla reliability. She had it for a week and a half and it overheated and took serious damage. Why? Someone had forgotten to put the radiator cap back on it at the dealership. Be careful and do your homework when buying used cars. |

I purchased a '14 328i in April, and I'm very happy with it. Has all the electronic options (SXM, bluetooth, navi, etc), sport line, carbon fiber rear spoiler, upgraded wheels...
It has CPO, so I don't know why you'd hesitate if you like it. And mine has an N26 engine, not an N20. Check to see which engine it has. PS - All makes/models have defects. Some new '16 Honda Civics had an early nasty problem with a piston ring. Pretty serious issue, but it's still a really nice car. (http://blog.caranddriver.com/2016-ho...failure-fires/) PPS - Buying a new BMW is crazy. They lose almost 1/2 their value in the first 2 years. Go used. I went from a E46 330i ZHP 6MT (164k miles and counting) to a CPO F30 328i Msport 8AT (N26). The N26 is definitely faster than the M54., but I expect the N26 to be less reliable so I plan on selling it before CPO expires at 100k.

If you get the car make sure you do not pass basic full bolt on mods and JB4 map 1 or map 2
