Exhaust sound

I only drive around in sport + .... It's like Jaguars version of the exhaust button ... Complete different sound from driving in comfort.

I asked for it to be installed at port and was told it's not available for the F31. Plus it's not available on the BMWUSA website for MY2015. I assumed it was the same...I mean, my guess is I could buy it and just find a shop that will install it. My concern is that it's a lease. If it requires completely modifying the exhaust (i.e., can't be reverted back), I wonder if I'll get ding'd for that?

It just keeps the second exhaust flap open at all times, except on cold starts. You can do the exhaust flap mod and it'll stay open in Comfort as well

In terms of it being a lease...Make sure you don't weld the M Performance exhaust to your car. Use a clamp. This way you can put the stock exhaust back on after the lease. I'm going to install the MPE on my 428i to get the sound and the cool dual exhaust look.

You're right: it depends also on the electronic management of the engine

Popping and burbling doesn't depend on the exhaust flap: with the MPPK installed, there's an incredible increase in the popping&burbling in Confort mode and it becomes very similar to the Sport mode, but in this one the open flap makes a deeper sound.
With MPPK I've got 3 levels of exhaust sounds:

No, that's the ASD (Active Sound Design) effect

and it's present on M135i and M235i: I find it very nice!
I read (and heard from some videos) that 28i too do have the ASD starting from MY2014.
I wish I had ASD on my 435i...

Most people here find the opposite, it actually sounds better in EcoPro then sport on my f30

Sorry, but you've got N20 while I do have N55 engine: their sounds are night and day

Said that, I was talking about burbling&popping effects, not about depth and loudness of exhaust sound

You should hear it when you have the MPE and and MPPK. The exhaust overrun is nice but it can be a little embarrassing. I'll avoid sport mode in crowded areas because after spirited driving, the gurgling turns into just exhaust backfire. Sound almost like gun shots.

EDIT: It sounds like the non-MPPK equipped F30's also have exhaust overrun in sport mode.

I just wish the throttle response wasnt so aggressive in sport and sport+. i like eco pro and comfort.
