Looking for some insight here:

I want someone who is "in the know" at BMW (i.e., is in bed with some board member at BMW) that can get me a 3-series wagon in a manual...this is a honest request. If any dealer/SA can get me this, I buy--cash. No strings. Please pm if you want to chat.

I hear you, I have contacted BMW NA several times since the F30 to express my interest in a RWD wagon. No dice. Perhaps we should gather a petition to show BMW the potential of such options on the wagon, oh wait, there isn't much potential. Bummer.

Manual tranny represents a drivetrain change which, I believe, requires re-certification for emissions and fuel economy ratings. So as stated above, never going to happen.

Is the 340 wagon available with manual anywhere? I know you can get it in RWD but looking at the online builder in various countries (Germany, Sweden, UK), it doesn't look like that combination is possible. You can get a 330 wagon with manual and RWD but the 340 wagon only seems to be available with auto transmission, at least in those countries based on what I've seen on the various sites.

Unfortunately the cost to design & engineer a new configuration would certainly far exceed the potential for profit.. many times over... given the lack of interest in manuals these days. Sad but true.

Hell we're lucky we can still buy a wagon here. The BMW with Dinan is the only compelling option, you can get a reasonably competent car for under $60k all in. Beyond that you're looking at E63 and Panamera for big dollars. Granted no manual but still. Trust me I've been through just about all the wagons with dad over the years there aren't any better options out there under $100k.
