Just adding to this, the N47 has two sensors. An intake temp sensor, and a post intercooler temp sensor.

The answer was in the freezeframe data, and code read with BMW software.

Thanks for diving into this, Abel.
Looks like my code scanner was assigning the error to the wrong component. It was in fact most likely an intake temp sensor, not the ambient temp sensor as called out in BimmerTool.
Appreciate the help fellas.
