[iPhone Users ONLY] How to use Spotify via Bluetooth Audio
As we all know the F30 NBT 2014 + Nav ONLY uses Apple Native Applications and does NOT allow 3rd party ones. Luckily for you, Spotify will cancel all audio in the background thus allowing it to work without any issues.
Tutorial - Step 1. Turn on the NBT Nav - Have the vehicle preset to the "Media" tab with your iPhone selected already Step 2. Play or have the vehicle automatically play a random song from your iTunes Library Step 3. Cancel all other music / streaming type apps (YouTube, Soundcloud, Spotify) Step 4. Open a clean Spotify (Make sure it was COMPLETELY closed prior) Step 5. Click a song and Spotify will automatically cancel out any other audio in the background thus playing your Spotify music Troubleshooting / FAQ - 1.) I hear nothing?! Switch from Media to Radio with the iPhone still playing the Spotify song then back to Media 2.) It randomly paused at first This may occur sometimes but just UNpause it or try the solution for question 1 3.) It stopped working when I got back into my vehicle Restart the process of Step 1 - 5 Any questions / concerns please feel free to PM me and I will be more than happy to assist.

When I get in my car, Spotify starts playing within about 10 seconds so long as it was the last app playing sound. If I was listening to Pandora when I got out, Pandora starts playing again from the last place it had stopped once I get back in.
What am I doing wrong? |

Thanks for the tutorial. Very helpful.
I am trying to decide whether to go with Business Media or Professional Media on a new 320D. All the benefits of Pro. vs. Business aside, the only thing that matters to me is the ability to play Spotify playlists (and ideally control them from the car without fumbling with the phone). Does your tutorial above work for Business Media owners also? Or does this only work for Professional Media? Many thanks! |

If you're using 2 or more music applications you must repeat the entire process of closing EVERYTHING related to media, then try to restart the entire 1-5 Step Process.

STEP 1: Unlock phone. STEP 2: Launch Spotify Let's say I immediately changed my mind and wish to listen to iTunes Radio or the iPod feature. I will go to those apps, launch them, and press play. I've never had to manually close anything. |

Thought Spotify was now supported by BMW?
I just get it, start Spotify, Pandora, or Apple Music on the phone first, then switch the source to BT or via Connected Drive section and the music plays and I see the album art.

Yes that's true but I'm not able to operate it when it's plugged in on my phone or the system
