My brother reckons the JLR warranty is by far the best. He’s only bought from a dealership and included the warranty in the purchase, but says he knows people who have bought privately and subsequently taken the JLR warranty out. He reckons many on his forum have had other warranties and then changed because of issues. He says to call into a LR dealer and ask about it, they normally charge a couple of hundred quid for an inspection before they sanction the warranty. In his words, he wouldn’t be without it!
I've read the same and also that WD's offering has been watered down recently. LR if you can.

Just to add. A slightly newer car, but I saw a LR out of warranty payout for £24k for an ingenium 2.0 engine failure on a D5.

Having their warranty coverage is not cheap but it's going to be worthwhile.

One thing I have read in the past though is that LR specifically ruled out covering snapping cranks on the SDV6 motors. I'm not sure if that's only the 306bhp one or the earlier one that you have with the same label. Worth checking that on on the D4 or RRS forums before taking the plunge. Disco4.co.uk iirc.
