Adaptive headlights

Hello,

I'm new to the bmw world.

I'm willing to change the xenon lights to the adaptive lights for 435 2015 M sport package.

Is it possible?

Any recommendations?
From where to buy?
Is there any changes in the sockets that i need to make?

Is there any programming needed ?

Your help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Zeyad

Yes it can be done.

However, the iihs rates the BMW F30 LED Adaptive Headlights acceptable (one notch above fail) instead of good.

Stay with what you have, though others will post with their personal belief that they are better based on what they “think they see” instead of scientific evidence.

Spend your money elsewhere.

Are you saying you want to change your HID headlights to adaptive HID headlights?

Or like IK6Speed suggested, changing to adaptive LED headlights?

In either case, you're talking about getting new OEM headlight assemblies, which can be done, but will be very costly.

However, I have the suspicion that you might be wanting to upgrade your halogen headlights to HID headlights. In which case, again you'd have to get new headlight assemblies, but you can get Depo brand headlights which can support HID but without adaptive capabilities for a much more reasonable cost.

OP said he has a 435, which I'm not sure is available with halogens. That said you can technically retrofit the Adaptive LEDs and xenons but the LEDs will be significantly more expensive for not really much gain.

I would check to make sure you don't already have adaptive xenons. I thought it was standard equipment, with the high beam assist being an option added to Driver Assistance Plus (which requires a KAFAS camera), as well as ZLP for the Full LED option.

Ah my mistake, i'm not as familiar with the 4 series, i assumed halogens were standard like on the pre-LCI 3 series.

And yes, i would have thought all HIDs are adaptive.

The HID's are adaptive for the 2015 4 series doesn't matter if you have a 428 with ZERO options OP should have the adaptive headlight's, the lighting pkg. just added LED headlights which are also adaptive and auto high beams (which was completely different from the pre-LCI 3 series Lighting pkg)

Well there you have it, zeyad.habeeb , your car already has adaptive capabilities and is proven to be more effective at lighting the road than the LED headlights. Plus - I think the projectors on the HIDs look better than the reflectors on the LEDs. (I will admit the DRLs on the new lights do look nice though).

All American N55 cars have adaptive HIDs (Bi-Xenons). These are significantly the best headlights you can get in America. The adaptive LEDs, like IK6SPEED said, are not very good. The non-adaptive LED headlights received a rating of "poor" which is the worst rating the IIHS gives.

I personally also think the reflector style housing of the adaptive LEDs looks much cheaper than the projection HIDs. There's also the headache of coding in all your changes and the significant cost of acquiring adaptive LED housings.

What is your goal? Why do you want adaptive LEDs? The only positive thing about them is if you like the shape of the angel eyes. Otherwise, they're worse in every objective way.

Thanks you for the recommendations

To clarify, it has the hid lights
But i want to switch to the led one because it's much nicer than the regular headlights.

So I'm not sure if i need to change the OEM sockets or any programming has to be done to make them work.

Thanks

The plugs/harness, all electronic modules and headlight assemblies would need changing along with coding to make the conversion.

Again, while they might look nicer to you, the performance is worse than the HID and only rated “acceptable” by the iihs, one notch above poor/fail.

My friend spent $5000 for all the part( all brand new) and coding needed to do the conversion on his 2015 435i GC.

You can pick up a lot of nice PERFORMANCE upgrades for $5k - I wouldn't waste my time spending it on LED headlights just for the different design angel eyes, but hey, it's your car...

Use a VIN Decoder

S522A Xenon Light
S524A Adaptive Headlights

Without S524A, you have non-Adaptive Xenons

There an easy way.....at night on the parking lot. Start your car ....turn on light......turn wheel full left and right....the headlight move to left or right where ever you turn the wheel

It will also say 'adaptive led' on the outside headlight housing if you have the option.

Some replacement headlights made by the same Company that makes these headlights for BMW (Hella) does not have that on the outside though everything else is the same.

However, if added on aftermarket, it would not be in VIN Decoder either.

As other have stated why you would want to get LED headlight's over the Xenon's? We had a 2018 Lexus NX as a loaner car and the it's Bi-LED projector headlight's were WAYYY brighter than my reflector "Adaptive LED's" on my 340i. I prefer Lexus Bi-LED headlight's over my full LED's (FYI the NX didn't have adaptive headlight's and I'd rather have those) Heck, even our Model S has full reflector LED headlight's and they are on the same level as my 340i which Im not fond of...Our Optima which has LED projector headlight's and our Q5 which has Xenon's are brighter than both the Tesla and BMW...BMW should've made Adaptive Xenon's standard and LED's optional.
