Been searching past threads and not sure where we are up to on Spotify.
I have it on my Android phone and my previous F33 found it OK but my 2020 car still has iDrive6 and cant see the Spotify icon when the phone is connected.
(I missed out on iDrive7 which has Spotify built in.)
So where are we on iD6 and Spotify?

it was taken out in an update to the app, if you are on android roll back to an older release

im currently on 8.5.59.1137 which works fine

I subscribed to BMW Music for a while and Spotify disappeared from iDrive7. BMW music service became unavailable for over a week, so I asked them to cancel my sub and refund. I asked on another forum how to get Spotify back on iDrive and was told to log out of other music services and it would reappear. I did this and Spotify has reappeared. Not sure whether this applies to iDrive 6 as well.

I got advised to delete the BMW connected drive app from my phone and then when I went back to the car Spotify was there.....
not sure is luck or it impacts but I’ve not downloaded the bmw app again and always have the option for Spotify since....

Thanks for this - didn't know Spotify would appear on Idrive 6 - just rolled back and now all good

Fuzzybunny what version of iDrive do I need for Spotify to work as I have ID4 and over the last three years I have given up trying to access Spotify in my car - I just start a playlist before setting off.

Came across this link which indicates that Spotify will work with ID4 if you roll back to an earlier version.

As others have said it's a Spotify issue rather than a BMW one.

After the last Spotify update (3 days ago) it's stopped working on the iPhone as well!! Having said that, it may be a BMW over-the-air update as it's not giving me the 'APPS' option in phone settings and it's started offering me BMW CarPlay on the iPhone, which I've not seen before. Why do they have to screw up everything that works!

I'll go back to my previous method which was to ask Google to play a track or playlist on Spotify

interesting thread revival, I believe if you can run android auto/apple car play or screen mirroring you will be able to utilise spotify.

Android phone with Spotify, 2018 F31 with ID6, Spotify works fine and shows on the screen.
