Suggestions for New Sound System/Sub

Anyone have any suggestions for a good sound system and sub? I'm pretty sure I have the standard Hi-Fi system and sounds good in my opinions but not great. Additionally, if I do get new speakers and sub do I have to buy a new head unit or will system work with the iDrive? And help is appreciated!

A popular option is a plug and play unit from "BimmerTech" that is an amp/dsp combo for the HiFi system. The thread is at the top of this forum.

I went a different route... replacing the factory front mids/tweets with Focal components powered by an amp/dsp combo made by Audison. Bass provided by a JL Audio 10w3 and Alpine 500w amp. It was an expensive venture but I've been pleased with the results.

a great speaker option is Hybrid Audio. They make 3.5" and 4.5" drivers (L3 and L4) that perform really amazing. They are a step up on Focal.

The rest of the options mentioned above are good too. Especially the Bimmertech amp/DSP

I went with BSW Stage One speakers and installed a Bimmer-Tech amp several months later. I am still tweaking the amp settings but it is a great improvement.

Good luck.
