Doesn't work. Some idiot will park right next to you with all the other spaces available. I'm unable to explain the motive behind this.

Guess it might be safer to park next to cars afterall

I try to park next to two more expensive cars instead

Is it something PDR can fix? I wish full cover insurance would cover PDR without paying the deductible first.

Sorry to hear that OP. A windy day will do it. A good PDR will fix it.

There's no such thing as idiot proof. Just when you think you're there God creates a more efficient class of idiots.
BTW, if the lot is set up so that you can easily park facing out of the spot, so that you don't have to back out of it, why park facing in?

Need to find that space "up" grade so carts can't role towards you. I have my preferred spots at all those dangerous lots that you must go to routinely.

Was there a "slope" to the lot?

I learned that lesson the hard way.

More like gravity propelled. I'm paranoid about shopping carts, so I evaluate the grade of the parking lot at least as much as I look for an isolated place to park. Around here, at least, there are often many high points and low points throughout any given lot, to facilitate drainage.

As you found out, which most of us know, don't park downhill of a slope.

Uphill or flat is key, or barrier if you must park downhill.

Yeah, well in my stupid teen years, we used to line shopping carts up a the Stop & Shop / Bradlees parking lot with the front of our cars (back when bumpers were real bumpers), and then accelerate and push the carts until we got to a good speed, and then brake and let the cart still go. You can't really account for parking lot slope for that -- but we never aimed at other cars; but parking alone away from other cars would not be where you want to park in that situation. I realize, now, that such behavior was unacceptable....

So...no matter where you park, it's never completely safe....

That sucks OP. It's happened to me too... now I go to the extent of observing the grade of the pavement and make sure I park on the higher grade. Seems to have worked so far... I've witness a runaway shopping cart... managed to catch it before it hit a mustang but man those things catch some serious speed

I parked similarly to you a couple weeks back in a parking lot section with no other car in it. When I walked out, there was a brand new charger r/t parked super close with those big long doors.

Annoyed but not surprised. This just tends to happen

I got in a fight yesterday. Parked easily 30 spots from anyone else and came out of the store to find some woman in a beat up old Acura parked within 6" of my car. Unfortunately for her she was there when I got back to my car and I tore her a new one.

Ha ha--and how did that go? Let me guess, she didn't feel bad at all, and acted like you were the dick.

She gave me the finger when I inspected my car to make sure she didn't scratch it with her door. I may have then backed out of the spot, ending up with my driver window directly in front of her car, and told her to go f*ck herself. May have also spit out my window onto the hood of her car. Or maybe I didn't
