Are you saying if I already had been in expert mode, coding, and had already read the FA before I changed to 2TB, that causes this problem?

So I should change to 2TB, write FA FP, expert mode coding, then read, activate fa, code ecus. I'm pretty sure this is how I did it already anyway.
Normally it is impossible that the VO is changing itself.
You can write the VO into the car or you can leave it.
Important is only that the VO with 2TB was loaded before coding.

Coded 2TB into a mid-2013 F31 and took it out for first drive yesterday - I feel like the rev counter is not reflecting the actual revs of the engine - stays below 2k for example when I can hear the engine revving up, and the fuel consumption gauge goes off the scale.
Switching to manual mode seems to "reset" the counter and it reflects actual revs, but then putting it back in either drive or S-auto and after a while the same thing happens.
Only thing I did was accidentally code the individual CAFDs rather than the whole ECU the first time around - then recoded the full ECU afterwards. No errors showing in the car other than the need to reset date/time.
Is this a known issue at all, or perfectly normal (unlikely)? Or should I revert to factory 205 setting and try again? Vin is F665538 if that helps.

Thanks!

Working fine now, must have sorted itself out after a couple of drives cause I didn't change anything!

Hello,

My car already has Sport+, menus, and in D/S mode it shows S1, S1 and so on.

But checking the vin, it shows 205 Automatic transmission instead of 2TB.

Maybe previuos owner had coded it?

How to know which transmission do I have without editing.

My esys cable is still coming.

If you have M-Sport package you can have 205. I have 3GT M-sport and I've had Sport+ and in Sport mode it showed S1 S2... I've coded the 2TB and the difference was significant. I think that with 2TB option you also get the shift paddles.

Question

Hello, I today coded sport+ mode, launch control, sport transmission. When I put car into sport + mode, shifter to the left it shows S1, S2 and when I step on it shifts pretty hard, I get hard kicks when changing gears. Is that good?

HU is for the sport menus on IDrive.

DSC may not be needed.

To compare files to determine if any changes are made:
1. Read Coding Data
2. VO code or use E-sys coding Verification to generate files
3. Open each in FDL-Editor
4. Save as FWL
5. Compare with program of choice (eg, Beyond Compare)

Hybrids get 2TE rather the 2TB.
Compared NCD files for all modules. Looks like only EGS and ICM have to be coded. Other modules has no changes.

Hi,

My I-Step is F020_13_03_503, from what I read, in this version it's not possible to code Launch Control, however, can 2TB be coded?

My car already has Sport+, so I coded this:

ICM Module/ 3000 Daten/ IcmKod_B_Sportlenkung/ verbaut

EGS/3000 Applikation -> Sportschalter_alt -> aktiv
EGS/3000 Applikation -> Sportschalter -> aktiv

ICM/IcmKod_B_S2TBA -> verbaut
ICM/IcmKod_B_S205A -> nicht_verbaut

however I still see "DS" when moving the gear to the left.

Is the faster gear change active? Is the DS icon(instead of S1) is a indication that it didn't work?

I'm afraid to do the VO code and have a negative side effect (I already know I would have to disable the paddle shift via fdl, for ex.)

I don't think you will get S1-S7 with a 116i.

But this also means that I can't get faster gearbox shift?

Random video from a 116i with 2tb coded:

<edit> 316i:

I'll test it today...

Video shows M1-M8, not S1- S7. WIth this, you can shift as fast as humanly possible.

that's true, but it's a ZF 8HP, doesn't 2TB make it change faster in manual mode?

No, I dont think so, not in manual mode. Only changes DS Shift Points.

When will it show M1, M2, etc and when will it show S1, S2, etc?

It shows S1-S7 when Shifter moved to Left (DS Mode). Shows M1-M8 as soon as you change gears manually with Gear Shifter or Paddles.

OK, thanks, sorry for asking this but will I see this S1-S7 with my 0205 normal automatic gearbox and so I don't have to shift myself then if with S1-S7 untill I manually shift it in the left position, or will it only show S1-S7 when you have the sport automatic or after I have coded it with Bimmercode?

Without SAT (Sport Automatic Transmission, it is DS only). SAT changes it to S1-S7.

So I checked my car first before I coded it.
I started the engine, put the poke to the left in Comfort mode and it showed me S1 in the cluster panel.
When I pulled it backwards it showed me M1.

Then I switched off the engine, connected the Veepeak dongle, started Bimmercode and read the transmission ECU and it sayd automatic sport transmission not active.
So I activated it, coded the ecu and also coded the sport+ drive mode.

Then started the engine, noticed the sport+ mode now too when selecting the different modes and then put it back in comfort and put the poke to the left and here it showed me again S1.

I did not tested the driving yet but how can it be it showed me without and with the sport automatic transmission active the S1?

It was enabled already from factory as part of some Option Code. It's working. What is the issue?

Well no issue then but I found it weird it said in the Bimmercode app it was not active.

therefor my doubt about it.

But ok thanks anyway for your explanation.

What do you mean that Bimmercode "read the transmission ECU and it sayd automatic sport transmission not active"? You base this on missing Option Code, or some FDL Codes, or what?
