Did you use the procedure in post #32, or did you leave the E-Sys settings at their default and write your modified FA to the car?

I ask because we're trying to figure out if there are issues with not modifying the FA in the car or not (I can't see how there would be a difference).

I coded snowghost's car using the no-write-FA procedure and it worked fine, but that's only one sample.

One note, if you skip step #5 (using the modified FA for coding by clicking Yes) or you re-read the FA from the car, then VO coding won't change anything.

in my F30 the High Beam Assistant only do ON/OFF, and is europe version.
i didnt do post #32
i didnt Edit the FA (in this case, remove 5AP and 8S4, because in my case it wasnt there)

i just code this:
HIGH_BEAM_ASSISTANT changed to activ(was not activ)

C_HBA_GRHB_ENA: changed werte from 00 to 01
C_HBA_ADAPT_SHUT_ENA: changed werte from 00 to 01
C_HBA_ENA_V_LO werte=18
C_HBA_ENA_V_HI werte=28

and still didnt work,then i just code this new ones:

FEM_BODY / 3073 / C_AFS_ENA should now be Fxxenable (was Fxxdisable)
FEM_BODY / 3073 / C_HBA_ENA should now be Fxxenable (was Fxxdisable)
FLA / 3000 / Lucid_Image_Height should now be Lucid (7A) (was Non-Lucid).
FLA / 3000 / Lucid_HL_Height should now be Lucid (40) (was Non-Lucid)
FLA / 3001 / DFL_Vehicle should now be Verbaut (was NichtVerbaut)

and now work
sorry for the poor english

Strange, I thought European cars had this enabled from the factory.

If you don't have the 5AP or 8S4 FA option codes, can you PM me you 7-character VIN so I can see what you have on your car?

I'm surprised just changing those worked for you. I only posted SOME of the values that changed, it's not the whole list!!

The full list of changes (for cars with FLA2):

FEM_BODY / 3003 / ComAdapterPdu_095_Objektdaten_Stufenloser_Fernlich t_Assistent -> aktiv.
FEM_BODY / 3073 / C_AFS_ENA should now be Fxxenable (was Fxxdisable)
FEM_BODY / 3073 / C_HBA_ENA should now be Fxxenable (was Fxxdisable)

FLA / 3000 / Lucid_Nominal_TL_width -> Lucid (7D)
FLA / 3000 / Lucid_Nominal_HL_width -> Lucid (73)
FLA / 3000 / Lucid_Image_Height -> Lucid (7A)
FLA / 3000 / Lucid_HL_Height -> Lucid (40)
FLA / 3000 / LucidHoodLength -> Lucid (A0)
FLA / 3001 / DFL_Vehicle should now be Verbaut (was NichtVerbaut)

I don't have these settings for cars with the KAFAS2 camera or for cars with LEDs yet.

I looked at your FA code list. As you say, you don't have 5AP or 8S4, or any kind of "decoding" disable code. Maybe you need an extra option code in Europe to enable the glare-free option. There are so many strange configuration rules for different countries. You have several items in the list that I've never seen in the US.

5AC is High Beam Assistant; that's normal.

I'd just go ahead and FDL code those other settings and you should be good to go. Thanks for all the info!

I'm new at this, I have been reading forum to learn how to change settings of the car and noticed that bans "removes disclaimer" you take, I have not got them in the car.

thank you again.

I also noticed tonight that even with the high-beams off, the light beams move around a lot more than before enabling glare-free mode.

I wonder if that's what was disabled by 8S4 (Decoding variable light distribution) and now is enabled by removing the code. It's seems to do a really good job of lighting the road surface.

I did *not* write the modified FA to my car and it works great.

is it possible to save a copy of your fembody and FLA cafd files before VO coding then compare them to the new cafd files after removing 5AP and 8S4 and VO coding to see what key values pairs have changed?

Yes.

Read ECU(s). Go to E-Sys \Data\CAF folder, and copy .ncd files to backup location after renaming them.

Change VO and VO code the same ECU's and repeat above process. Then make FDL Code comparison using TokenMaster's NCD / CAFD Tool:

That's exactly what I did to get the codes (from my car) in post #70.

BUT, I don't recommend coding your car this way because the settings are different for cars with the KAFAS camera (I have the FLA one) and are also different for cars with LED's, so a single set of "codes" for this feature are not universal.

I only posted my codes to allow someone to confirm that the VO coding "took" properly.

Yup I wouldn't even attempt to FDL code each and every change individually. I just wanted to look at what did change to see if any of them jump out at me that could be controlling light sensitivity, lower speed threshold keys, decrease HBA activation time, etc.

glare-free HBA in action

Got a second video camera (Garmin Virb Elite) and made a slightly better video that shows how the glare-free high beam assistant works. The Garmin Virb Elite is able to capture GPS data (including speed) so i was able to overlay velocity into the video. I also added a second video - recorded simultaneously - of the driver side headlight as a picture-in-picture. The coolest part of the video, at least to me, is at 01:37 when you can clearly see a tunnel being created for an oncoming vehicle. Enjoy!

http://vimeo.com/84380450

C_HBA_ENA_V_LO coded to about 15 MPH
C_HBA_ENA_V_HI coded to about 25 MPH

My observations from last night:
- If HBA is already disabled, it won't re-enable until the car is traveling at C_HBA_ENA_V_HI or higher (00:39 in the video).
- At any speed below C_HBA_ENA_V_LO, the HBA is disabled. It does not matter how dark the road is (00:26 in the video).

Is the US variable high beam assistant same as Europe adaptive turn lights option code s524?

If that is the case then the adaptive headlights is a seperate cost option ~700$ since not much equipment come in packages here we have to pay for each option one by one.

The High Beam Assistant was a separate $250 option for my 2013 model. The code on my order sheet was 5AC. In 2012 I believe it came with the lighting package.

5ac is ~250$ here in Sweden too but how do it relate to the more expensive S524 option we have?

Is the S524 the option that can be enabled just by coding if you purchase 5AC?

If so I don't think it will take long before bmw fix this and make it a FSC code otherwise no one will pay the premium 700$ extra for S524.
