AC Blowing Warm Air

View post on imgur.com

Hi All,

Long time lurker and here's my first post. I recently bought a 2014 BMW 328i xDrive. As the first day of warm spring came around, I cranked the AC and only warm air blew out (Yes, I did make sure the temperature knob at the center console wasn't turned to red).

I am trying to diagnose the issue. Are the pictures above showing the compressor or is it something else?

Thanks ahead of time.

I have a similar issue recently after I purchased my CPO 340i, AC was blowing warm. I took it to the dealer and found that one of the AC pressure sensor line wires had been chewed through by some rat, presumably on the dealers lot that I had bought it from after they have done their CPO inspection. They wanted $500 to repair 2 wires so I took it some and soldered them myself. Works like a charm now.

The first thing you should do is go get your codes read at a dealership or autoparts store (they sometimes do it for free). Sometimes there are hidden codes that do not throw any sort of check engine light or warning message. This will tell you where the fault in the system is.

Recently lived through this. Was driving home from work and noticed a hissing sound at low speed. Turns out, a rock had been thrown by the vehicle in front of me and it punctured the A/C condenser. The hissing sound was the refrigerant being pushed through the hole. Took it to BMW, since my CPO warranty is still in effect, and was quoted $1220 to replace it. Further research shows that BMW is a bit sketchy about this since LCI models actually have a steel grate in front of the condenser to prevent this, due to so many pre-LCI owners having to replace their condensers. Thankfully my local indy is doing the job for me tomorrow for $450 (including parts).
