May be looking for a donut

In my vert I carry a scissor jack, lug wrench, compact compressor and plug kit. I do not have a spare or really the room to have one.

For longer trips though, I guess I would like to have a donut that I could probably store on the floor in front of one side of the rear seat, when it is just my Wife and me on the trip.

Now I wonder what I can get for a donut spare, especially because I have the 19 inch wheels with the 225/40 R19 tires. Seems it may be hard to run a donut with 3 of those large tires?

Compact spare will work with no problem - they are supposed to be used only to get you to a tire shop to have original tire replaced

I got my compact spare for my 435 @ Bimmerzone. Size of wheel + spare closely matches OEM tire/wheel diameter (see fitment table below)

This compact spare can be used with the OEM MPerf Brembo brakes (blue, red, yellow, orange) but not with aftermarket 'big' brakes

Fitment

Specification Diameter Difference
145/70-18 (Spare Tire) 26.0in N/A
225/50-17 25.9in -0.5%
225/45-18 26.0in 0.0%
255/40-18 26.0in -0.0%
225/40-19 26.1in -1.3%
255/35-19 26.0in -0.0%

Hi. In same situation, or will be when I replace OEM Pirelli RFT's with non RFT's. Please let me know of you figured out. Thanks

I purchased the spare from Bimmerzone... it takes up a lot of space, but worth it IMO on long trips. When not on long trips, I remove it. I also have the jack, etc....

When going on a trip, I put my spare in the trunk. For my luggage, I put my clothes in a garment bag and lay it on top of the spare... that way I can put the top down. Another smaller travel bag can fit behind the passenger seat, if the passenger is not tall... or in the back seats (I like the passenger seat since the bag is somewhat hidden if you lean the seat back slightly --- this is a small carry-on bag).

If not traveling but a couple of days, maybe two garment bags would work or a garment bag and very small backpack/duffel.

I was told the tire would fit and fit over my performance brakes... I have the same size wheels as you... have to admit, I've not taken off the wheels to see if it would fit or not.

Personally I would still put the spare in the trunk since you can always remove the bags once you arrive to your destination... best thing about a garment bag is that your clothes are ready to wear!

But I base this off trips no more than 5 days... if you are going someplace for longer, I'd put the spare in the back and luggage in the back seat and put the back seat down and put up the wind deflector.

This is the bag I purchased: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This is the small bag I can put behind the passenger side... it is hidden about as well as it can, once you lean the seat back: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

edit: My explanation is for being able to put the top down while traveling... if that does not matter, yea, two garment bags and another bag would do the trick in the truck, even with the tire in the rear.

edit 100 (lol): make sure you tie the tire down (I use an old motorcycle tie down rope to keep it in place)... that is why I'd put it in the trunk...

I use the compact spare bag from ECSTuning. Jacking kit fits inside wheel while in bag. Bag has tie down straps that use the (4) tie down points in your trunk to hold the wheel securely in place...

Can someone post a picture of the spare in their trunk? I’m debating getting rid of my rfts for my summer tires and getting a spare. Or I will just buy a compact suv for trips since I have two dogs and two kids to lug around.

Two kids and two dogs... really? You can't take a trip to 711 with the full family... let alone a weekend trip.... Ha ha ha....

Just saying... Get the SUV.

They do have the range rover convertible: https://www.landroverusa.com/vehicle...ble/index.html

But I don't even think that can help you... you need a third row.

Lol. I know. I got the convertible because my daughter started driving her own car but it’s easier taking one car when we do stuff together and I don’t like her car. I’m going to keep the runflats on the summer wheels for summer trips without the kids and just get an suv for family time and work. I hate parking the bmw at work. It got keyed the first week.

A friend has the Evoque. She let me drive it for a few days. I didn’t like it.

AAA Card?

A AAA card is my backup plan, in addition to the jack and plug kit

I'm trying to picture you, wife, two kids and two dogs in a vert with the top down. Damn if I'd not take pictures at the light. I'd be that jerk.

I'm sure it would go viral though.

Keyed? Darn.... I keep hearing that... hopefully never experience it... everyone in DC seems to have an expensive car so not much jealously. They might feel a certain way if I pull up in a McLaren or Rolls... BMW, not so much.

They are like, "you can't afford a Mercedes?"

Divorced. No wife to drive around. She’s got her own convertible. Lol. When the g/f is with me I don’t have my kids.

Any nice car usually gets messed with. Last year someone loosened three lug nuts on my car (Subaru at the time). Of course our cameras weren’t working. We have an unsecured parking lot. Never figured out who did it. I arrested a few people that week so it could be anyone. Coworkers keep telling me it was someone’s husband.

Top up and partition up you can fit two carry-on bags... more than enough for a weekend trip... more like a 5 day trip for two people. Although personally I'd never put a full bag in there like that... too paranoid that I'd damage some top component (carry-on fits fine, as shown in the picture, but I'd be afraid of it shifting while driving).

Most I'd do is the spare tire and my garment bag (or two garment bags).

The garment bag looks tight with the partition down but it is not... there is a lot of room due to the angle of the partition. Of course, you guys/gals know this already. lol

Here are some pics of the small travel bag in the back seat... most shots are taken with the top down. With the windows up it is very hard to see the small bag due to my tint.

I purchased the small bag thinking it would fit in the trunk with the spare tire, to be honest. Of course, it did not fit, but I kept it since I can use it for small weekend trips when I don't need the large blue bag. The garment bag is only for use in the vert with the spare tire on trips. I'll keep the car for a while so money well spent.

Thanks for the pics! It looks like I can fit a similar size bag and still fit two kids and maybe one dog.

So I am wanting to get the VMR V703 wheels (19x8.5) ET 40 square setup, I was wandering if this would fit with no issues as well as give it a aggressive(ish) look?

Thank you for your help!

JTMAt, how are you strapping down the Bimmerzone spare in the Bimmerzone bag? I don't think that bag has the tie downs that the ECS bag does?

BavAuto used to sell the bag separately, but they recently went out of business

ECSTuning is supposedly picking up items BavAuto used to sell - maybe contact ECS to see if you can get bag by itself

I just purchased this same spare as well for my F33 CV. Did you have to use the hub centering rings? Kind of confused as to when/why these are required.

Test fit the Bimmerzone spare tonight. Thumbs Up! I wouldn't install it without the centering ring. Tire tote cover works fine too and will probably adjust to fit my OEM 19s.

60psi is probably beyond most tire pressure gauges though.

Sorry for late reply - yes, you do need to use the centering ring

Mine also came with a set of spacers & longer lugs - Tech stated that in rare occurrences you need to use the spacers

When I test fit the spare on my car with Brembo 4 piston front calipers/2 piston rears + 370mm/345mm rotors = spacers not needed

If you find when you test fit your spare that the wheel is hitting anywhere, give Bimmerzone a call & they will send you out the spacers for free
