What is your favorite M car?

I drive a 2015 435i GC. I love it. It looks good and drives great. Now if I had a larger budget I would probably buy a newer model M5. Of all the M cars I like this one the best. It has 4 doors and just seems to have a better presence than the M3. Now if they made a 4 door M4 I'd be all over that!!! What's your favorite?

M5 by a mile.

They do make a 4 door M4.

It's an M3.

The upcoming X4M is of increasing interest. Looking forward to the test drive later this year.

I was considering the F90 M5 Competition as a replacement for my F80 and I even drove one on the track. First of all, as a highway bruiser, there is no comparison. The F90 is a BEAST and it's MUCH nicer inside than my F80. It certainly is more powerful than the M3, but it's almost 900 lbs heavier than the M3 CS I was also looking at. As far as road presence, I always liked the flared fenders of the M3 over the M4, and also the M5. There is something about those hips that are carried over from the E30 M3 that you can't get in any other M car.

In the end I went with the M3 CS, which, compared to the M5, is almost the opposite of what the M5 offered. The M3 CS I was looking at was about $3k cheaper than a base M5 Competition (M3 CS was $107k, M5 Competition was $110k), it's RWD only, a much more stripped down but light weight interior, and has more aggressive aero parts. The only thing I added was the M Performance Exhaust ($5700) which pushed it over the price of the M5 Competition, but with the discounts it was still a better deal. Plus I loved the GTS Carbon Fiber hood. 0-60 on the M5 is 3.1s versus 3.7s on the M3 CS. Not bad considering the M5 has the AWD advantage. The M3 CS is much more track worthy simply because it was purpose built for it–it's much much lighter. What more, the dealer was willing to give me a much better deal on the M3 CS than the M5 Competition.

I liked the way the M3 CS was setup from the factory. My first time driving it I was blown away by how much better it handled than my old modified F80.

Until the G80 comes along, I think this is the most capable M3 ever built. Only bested by the hardcore M4 GTS, and the audience for that car is very small.

FYI the 4 door M4 is the M3. This is one of those rare instances where the coupe and the sedan perform pretty much EXACTLY the same although the M4 CS is slightly lighter than the M3 CS.

I think Jeremy Clarkson said on Top Gear that the M5 was the greatest car ever...or something like that.

I'm partial to the E30 M3 because I owned one for half a year before selling it for a $10K profit.

But what a car!!

Absolutely gorgeous! Can't wait to own one in 5 years

OP, to answer your question, my favorite M car is the F80 M3 CS, followed closely by the E46 M3

S54 Z3 M Coupe by a long shot over any other M cars.

Value of this thing keeps going up and up.

However for my money... Z4 M Coupe.

Excellent taste sir, cheers! A 2002 S54 M Coupe with approx. 4,500 miles just sold for $92,000 on BAT back in February!

https://bringatrailer.com/2019/02/25...sells-for-92k/

Ultra-low mile S54 M Coupes are touching six-figures real soon mayn. M Coupes 'til my casket drop.

You can squeeze 305s to 315s on this wide ass without rolling. Best ass and hips of the last 30 years, easy mayn.

If there is a M4 GC....

I really like the exterior of an E92 and the interior of F82. M2C as a toy would be nice, 8 series as a weekend cruiser, and F90 as a family car. someday, someday...

M3 with Competition package. Anything more expensive diminishes the value proposition of the M3. Lose 2 doors and I'd rather get a 992.
