Best tire set up for these wheels?
Hello everyone, I have a quick question regarding what tires would be the best fit sizing wise on these wheels:
Forgestar f14 18 x 8.5 +35 rear 18 x 9.5 +40 They currently have Michelin pilot super sports in the front 225/40/zr18 rear 255/35/zr18 Apparently I was running a stretched front tire and that caused it to tear at the edge of the sidewall when I hit a pothole. |

235 is taller 26.3". Lessens wheel gap, better ride. 245, 25.7" increases gap but will improve front grip and reduce understeer for better handling. That's the difference in theory, not sure if you'd notice. The visual difference is more noticeable, 245 will have more gap and cause a slight forward rake when paired with 265/40/18 rears which are 26.3".

btw, are you lowered? i just noticed the tire sizes you are currently on are a profile size too small, 25" diameters instead of the oem 26". the sizes i'm recommending will look way "beefier" and not as "low profile". if you are lowered you could also run 245/40/18, 275/35/18, if you didn't buy your tires yet.

on tirerack, 245/40/18, 265/40/18 has more choices. you could also do 245/40/18, 255/40/18(slight stretch on 9.5) and that has a lot more choices.
245/40/18, 275/35/18 also has many choices but it is slightly oversize on 9.5" and being heavier and wider, may make your 4-cyl N20 engine feel sluggish. |

i went with 245/40 and 275/35 and I love it. I'm lowered though. But it fits the wheels with absolutely no stretch and of course the added grip is great.
If you want some quality tires for cheap, i think your best bet is firestone indy500s or Hankook v12 evo. it's a great summer tire that you can probably enjoy a lot in cali. |

per tire rack info, i'd recommend these
Continental ExtremeContact Sport, 2nd to MPS4S in performance but doesn't cost as much. priciest of this bunch. General GMAX RS(made by Continental) best Ultra High Performance Summer Hankook Ventus V12 Evo 2, average Max Performance Summer Sumitomo HTR Z III(Max Perf Summer) if you're absolutely "broke ass"... |
