Mirror dip when engaging reverse, standard or option

My F34 doesn't dip the passenger mirrors when I engage reverse.

x-m4n has an F34 which does it.

My dealer says this is a feature which only comes when you have option 430 (folding mirrors). Can anybody confirm this?

I am asking as sometimes dealer knowledge is not 100% reliable.

Thanks.

I have folding mirrors and my passenger mirror tilts down when I reverse. Not meaning to insult but did you make sure that the selector knob (for adjusting the side mirrors) is to the left?

If it helps, my car does have something listed as "Ext. mirrors - folding. auto dimming" option.

Kein Problem, joyrdr.

The claim of the dealer is that this "parking feature" is only present when you have the "Ext. mirrors - folding. auto dimming" (Option 430). As indeed x-m4n has it, but I don't.

I actually also believe we might be on to a translation error here. Driver/passenger side are obviously reversed in comparison to German cars. The manual on pg 55 shows the switch on the LEFT pos, but the text next to the pic says "drivers side", which is of course the right, not the left side in the UK.

I just checked my car, the mirrors don't dip, regardless of the switch. But I can adjust them with the 4-way switch (which confirms the fuse ain't broken or something).

Beste Grüße (to joyrdr)
Regards (to anybody else)

The mirrors should dip regardless of whether you have power folding mirrors. As long as the mirror adjustment selector is flipped to the driver-side, the passenger-sider mirror should dip when the reverse gear is selected.

It totally makes sense - the mirrors didn't dip in my previous car which was an e87 - I had electric mirrors but no folding option.

Perhaps other F34 owners can share more info...

It gets interesting, we have now 2 guys who don't have folding mirrors but their mirrors dip. More votes please, especially from F34 owners who don't have folding mirrors (if needs must you may want to check if the option 430 is on your invoice)

Well . . my right-hand drive 328i does not have the folding mirrors option and, on selecting reverse, does not dip the passenger side mirror, irrespective of where the selector switch is.

If it helps, my M Sport 335i GT does dip the passenger side mirror, only if the mirror adjuster switch is set to the driver side (as several folks have explained). I have the Driver Assistance and Driver Assistance Plus packages

Interestingly, if I put the car in reverse with the switch in the passenger side position, and then select the driver side position, the passenger side will dip. Switching it back to passenger side (while still in reverse) will "un-dip" the passenger side mirror.

FWIW, in my 2003 330i, (without mechanical/electric folding mirrors --they are manually folded in), is what 335xGT describes as exactly what I have in mine.

Might be worth physically examining the button cluster on your driver's door. While mine vehicle is a bit older, the concept should/could apply.

I thought this feature comes with folding mirrors OR elec. front seats w. driver memory. At least that is what the dealer told me.
