Stone Chip Behind front wheel arch

Has anyone fitted stone guards in the front wheel arches to help prevent stones hitting the bottom of front doors and side skirt.

Not a stone guard as such, but clear paint protection film.

Was looking into this myself as the M4 has trashed the leading edge of the plastic sill/skirt in 1600 miles!!

It needs something like a small piece of plastic sticking out past the arch by an inch to stop the stones. May have to make one of nothing is available.........

Either that or mud flaps

I had the same problem with my previous 3-series, and it also chipped the paint of the front wing, not just the plastic skirt. I fitted some plastic mud flaps shortly after getting my current car to prevent reoccurrence. I don't know if BMW have made changes, but they are not designed to fit the MSport skirts. However, some careful cutting with a scalpel will sort that out.

When I was at the dealer yesterday, I noticed that the new M5 had these plastic things sticking out of the wheel arches. There was also a 911 in the car park that had these.

Initially I though it was the wheel arch lining trim sticking out but then realised what it was
