exhaust flap rattle
I have a 2013 335i xdrive m sport and I got a resonator delete a couple months back and today my exhaust started to make a rattle noise and I was thinking of going to bmw I have 2 months left on the warranty and was thinking if it is voided because of the resonator delete

You mean would your rattle repair be denied because of the resonator delete? Doubtful...no relationship between the resonator and the exhaust flap on the muffler - unless whoever removed the resonator used a big hammer on your muffler.

Usually there's a placstic peice that is near the flapper deivice that fails. I also had the same problem. A temporary solution is to unplug the module in the trunk of the car. Look up the unplug mod or the golf tee mod. Unplugging the flapper causes no sort of CEL in my experience.

I asked bmw today if it will be covered under warranty they said no because if anything on the exhaust is changed warranty gets voided. I called up a bmw expert that has a shop and I told him that my exhaust is making a rattle noise he said it was the flap and he can weld it so the flap stays open at all times. I'm going to get it welded only going to cost my $40

Sukhjot - that's utter nonsense about voiding warranty for an exhaust change. Probably just an unfriendly dealership. I would not weld the flap open, although if you have a stock muffler, you probably won't get any noticeable drone. I tried the "unplug" mod on my MPE, and back-seat passengers complained of the increased noise and drone.

No, I would not recommend that method at all. If you search this forum, you may be able to find a way to mechanically hold the flap open. If yours has stock exhaust, you would probably be ok with unplugging the servo connector as previously mentioned, but only after the car has warmed up and the flap has opened.

I have a similar issue - driver side exhaust rattles like a can with some coins in it when car is cold (2012 F30 335i) - so I am going to try unplugging the module in the trunk of the car. The question is - where is it in the trunk? I do not want to unplug something else - I saw videos on tube but they only were for e90.
I would really appreciate your advice. |

OK, I found this here - http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...=978470&page=2
So, the wire is not in the trunk for f30 335i - it is connected to the muffler itself on the driver side. Would be an easy thing to unplug. I did not unplug it - I just used the wire (I had some wire used to hang pictures) to hold the flap open - all effort took 10 minutes, no need to lift the car etc. I used the flashlight to make sure that flap is open - it's very obvious when you look inside the exhaust and compare to the passenger side. No rattling anymore. Will see for sure tomorrow morning when the car is cold. |

I was getting a sharp chirp noise on my Remus Sport Catbacks. SA charged me $89 for tech's time to trouble shoot and the fix was to lube the flap, It was chirping every time I throttled it around 2k rpm. If it keeps happening, he'll refund me the 89, and/or, relube it for free. No void on warranty stuff but the SA is an enthusiast and friendly to work with He installed "custom" parts, my Remus exhaust and Dinan CF CAI which is not yet legal in CA. I called another SA in so cal and they wouldn't touch anything non OEM...

I've got the mpe and deleted my resonator too, but I only get the rattle maybe... once a month? It's completely random and goes away after off / on.

Anyone have any tips on installing the fixing bow? That little thing will not cooperate! I've tried using a zip tie to compress it but it still seems too wide to fit into both grooves
