OK, my bad. I was starting in the wrong place. I'm in now. However, I still cannot get it to update. It doesn't seem to see the update on the USB stick. I've tried several different folder structures. I'd have thought you just dump the whole (unzipped) ENTD_xxx folder into the root, don't you? I did try moving the contents of that folder into the root but that didn't work, either. Grrr. I don't remember having this much trouble before.

Create the following directory structure on a Fat32 (not exFAT) USB Drive:

\BMWData\CDDB\GRACENOTE\

Extract .zip file and Copy the Gracenote folder and the following files to the BMWData\CDDB\GRACENOTE\ folder:

content_evo.xml
content_evo.xml.sign

Yeah, that's how I tried it first but it didn't work. BMW can be very picky about USB sticks, so I've tried 3 different ones, one of which is USB 2.0, in case it doesn't like USB 3. I've tried partitioning them to 8GB, in case it doesn't like 32 or 64GB. I've tried both USB ports. But it still doesn't see it. When I get to the Gracenote screen in the menu, the update version just shows dashes and there is no update option. I've done map updates using these sticks, though, so they should work.

No idea. I know in my F06, the Armrest USB Port would not work, but USB Port in Dash where Cupholders are did work.

After copying the Gracenote folder, you should have:

BMWData\CDDB\GRACENOTE\GRACENOTE

Yep. Plus the .xml and .sign files in the first Gracenote folder.

It's the 'D' in BMWData. It has to be upper case.

Yep. BMW drive me nuts sometimes. Even Microsoft aren't that anal about folder names. I'd created the folder as BMWdata instead of BMWData. Also, the first GRACENOTE folder is in upper case. I already had that correct but I bet that would have stopped it, too. And the second one is Gracenote - mixed case.

Bizzare. So final path for folder was \BMWData\CDDB\GRACENOTE\Gracenote?

I've been pondering this. Like you do. The software that runs on the car is not Windows. It doesn't use FAT or NTFS. Much of it is free software that BMW have downloaded from the internet. That's why you can download free software updates from their website. They can't charge for it 'cos they don't own it. I'm guessing much of it runs on LINUX. 'Cos it's free. Windows will not allow a folder (directory) called BMWData next to one called BMWdata (in the same parent folder). It will see them as the same name. But pretty much everything in LINUX (and UNIX) is case sensitive and would allow this, as it will see them as two separate directories. So, if a piece of software running in LINUX is looking for an update in a directory called BMWData, it will not look for it in one called BMWdata (unless it was specifically coded to check both). Although Windows can't read UNIX filesystems, LINUX can read FAT (and NTFS). So it wouldn't have a problem reading a USB stick formatted with FAT32, but it would still distinguish between those directory names.

Last working NBT version is Gracenote-DB for NBT & NBT-EVO 03-2017 China & Korea. This is 6 years old. You have something even older in car?
