CG Lock Alternatives? Not Quite.

One of my favorite pieces of equipment for the track are the Schroth Quickfit harnesses I have to keep me secure in my seat so I don't have to use my arms/legs to brace myself during high cornering or braking forces.

That said, harnesses aren't within reach for everybody, and some models with fixed headrests and no belt pass-throughs can't use them anyways. This leaves you with just seat belt tensioning devices (unless you use the seat belt lock method, which is a bit clumsy IMO). In the video below I take a look at the "go to" seat belt tensioner (CG Lock), and some alternatives I found on Amazon to see if they stack up now that CG Lock is discontinued and difficult to find. I was able to test these devices at the M-Track days event at Sonoma Raceway earlier this week.

I should have gotten more than one CG-Lock when that stash of inventory was found last year. Love this device if you don't have a proper harness.

You can still get them, but for about $125/each. Still worth it given the cost delta of going to something with a harness. I picked up two for a vehicle I have incoming, still less than the price of one Quickfit, haha.
