'Standard Scope' rip off

My car will be 3 years old in December, so I was just looking online at my dealer what I would need for the service....brake fluid £90, MOT £54, End of Warranty check - Free of charge, and notice that there is a £26 for a Standard Scope. The explanation says this is added on every visit to check the computer for error messages and reset service indicators, even though the description of the brake fund replacement and MOT state that they will reset the service indicators as part of that item. This just looks like a £26 addition for no extra work.

Let's be honest, BMW servicing (probably in common with many other marques) is sometimes very expensive for what it is. An oil and filter change using the correct spec Shell oil and a genuine filter cost me less than 50 quid - BMW want £156 to do the job and that's on the 'value' price list.
The glass showrooms, attractive receptionists and nice coffee has to be paid for somehow

It took me a while to find the above pages. They are from the Sytner website...

I'll be taking it to an indi for the brake fluid change and then a local for the MOT when it needs it. the indi will update BMW database and note it in idrive so I'm happy.
I'd rather have a specialist do the work than the local monkeys

My brake fluid is showing as 74 and the standard scope at 31!
scrap that, just checked a few and its 74/31 or 64/26.

Cheeky so n sos.

Just checked Marshall's Hook prices and its £47/£18!
https://marshallhampshirebmw.bmw-ret...k-appointment/

ouch comparing some prices against my local. PAIN
https://cooperreadingbmw.bmw-retaile...k-appointment/

Engine oil service with microfilter
£228 vs £287
Standard scope
£18 vs £31
Brake fluid service
£47 vs £74
MOT
£54 vs £54
End of warranty check
£FOC* - vs £FOC*
Total: £347 vs £446

£99 fucking pounds difference. NINETY FUCKING NINE for that.

£47 + £18 for the brake fluid = £65
compare that to a local specialist = £49.92. If it wasn't for the code crap it'd actually be cheaper. Who knows, you might be able to haggle with the code stuff.

Just checked all my local BMW dealers and I only have Sytner or Rybrook, but Rybrook are way cheaper.

At least the first MOT is covered by MOT protect. So anything requiring replacement is not charged. My first MOT and end of 3 year check is booked in for next month.

Rybrook every day over Shytners.

Getting BMW to price match BMW between them is harder than it should be too.

I am not defending Dealer, but you are comparing Apples to Oranges.

Brake Fluid and MOT (as well as other services) are reset via the odometer reset button and the iDrive.

Connecting up ISTA/Rheingold to the car’s computer to check for error codes is a totally different thing.

I'm thought they have to log the brake fluid chance on the BMW database and not just a button press in the idrive.

The fact is they've got the car on the ramp NEXT to the computer. the 20+ fee to just click for codes is a piss take considering it takes no effort.

Also check the words for the first MOT. "ANYTHING" is not covered. I annoyingly bought a car at a bit under 2.5yrs so they did the MOT early which sucks balls as they got out of that free one.

Shytners charge £27 for the standard scope except if you opt for an engine oil service for £214 then they don't do the scope for some reason ?
