Thinking of selling my 2014 bimmer 335

Seriously thinking of selling my bimmer. Love the car but feel like upgrading to a 18-19 340. Please don't flame me guys just trying to get some feedback. Was considering a trade-in but sure thats not the best idea. Car currently has 60k miles...4 tires replaced about 6 months ago..spark plugs replaced about 6 months ago.AFE intake installed about 2 months ago...has an aftermarket rear spoiler (nothing crazy looking). Car has black leather..is a luxury line & premium package also has driver assistance & cold weather package, nav/ with side & top view camera. Payoff w BMW finance is currently at $9k..Should I take the chance and trade the car in or deal with selling it online? Wouldnt mind posting the car for sale but know the hassles which go with that situation from past experiences.

see what dealer will offer you in trade in then decide what to do.
mine offered me $31k for mine which was shocking but i guess they really want me to switch to a new car. i'm in a 2018 f33 430 with 68k miles! I only owe $18k on it so ugh. decisions decisions.

Best of luck with your decision! Not a bad deal. Just dread dealing with car dealers. Been through that route many time and the hassle was ridiculous.

Carvana and Vroom are paying more than you would get from a dealership trade in and are fairly hassle-free. It just takes a few weeks to wrap everything up if you still have financing due.

I have had good luck with getting to appraisal from Carmax, then going to Bidlane to get them to match it (not sure if this is available in the East Coast). For those of you who don't know, Bidlane is Carmax's competitor. They often open in front of Carmax store with a "we beat Carmax" banner.

However, since now Carvana is getting more and more popular, I will for sure consider it too. We tried to use it recently and they came with a higher appraisal vs. Carmax and Bidlane. However, the timing didn't work out, unfortunately.

Depending on your state, you might also save taxes on the value of your trade. That’s why I usually just trade in. For example, say the dealer offers you 20k on your trade with a state tax of 8%. Your new car’s negotiated price is 60k.

You pay tax only on 40k, not 60k, saving you 1.6k. So selling the car privately would have to get you a value higher than 1.6k to actually save money. YMMV; on a lease presumably it reduces your cap cost and the taxes are spread over the life of the lease on the depreciation so it’s not as valuable.

These projects require managing two parallel threads: selling the existing vehicle while looking for the next vehicle.

Start with KBB value as a starting benchmark. Get quotes from the usual outlets: Camax and others. If a local BMW dealer has a car that you like, you might get a more attractive trade in.

It's a journey.

nope. 430. F33.
I was shocked and said no way. that can't be right. they even deducted a few grand for high miles. i guess they really wanted me to buy a new car. i'm fine with mine. it's my first and probably last hard top convertible. i think only the new Vette is going to be a hardtop convertible. We'll see what I buy next.

Why are you surprised that they want to deduct for high miles? It's normal practice. Were you trying to trade or just sell?

I knew they would deduct for high miles but I was still shocked at the final offering. I was thinking of trading in to an M4.
