BMW 3 Series vs. 2018 Genesis G70
2018 Genesis G70 vs BMW 3 Series (Six generation F30/F31/F80 - 340i, 330i, BMW M3) As the upcoming Genesis G70 will take on the BMW 3 Series. Cars Comparison. The new Genesis G70 will launch in South Korea at the end of the month and it will join possibly the most hotly contested luxury car segments in the industry. Not only is it going to be taking on the 3 Series but the Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Jaguar XE. All of which are sensational cars and extremely difficult to compete with. So the G70 will need to be damn good if it wants to just survive this segment, never mind genuinely compete in it. It will launch with three engine options to start with and they’re pretty typical. A 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, a 3.3 liter twin-turbocharged V6 petrol and a 2.2 liter turbo four-diesel. It’s really the two petrol engines that are important, as they will be the enthusiasts’ choices. The turbo-four will make 248 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque and the twin-turbo V6 will make 365 hp and 376 lb-ft. According to Hyundai, that twin-turbo V6 can hustle the G70 from 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds. So, on paper at least, the G70 can hang. Those engines will only be mated with an eight-speed automatic and will power the rear wheels as-standard, though there will be optional all-wheel drive. It will also come with an 8.0 inch infotainment screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a 15-speaker Lexicon surround sound system. Considering how good the Genesis G80 is, we’re expecting the G70 to be even better. Hyundai has had some time to realize how to improve its rear-wheel drive platform. Will it be able to compete with the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 or Mercedes-Benz C-Class? We won’t know for a little while. But it’s not outside the realm of possibility. Don’t laugh. BMW 340i Engine 3.0L turbo 6 Max. Power 240kW @ 5500rpm 320hp Max. Torque 510Nm @ 1380rpm 0-60 mph 4.8 sec. |

Interesting to see how Hyundai would do against the big 3. Not expecting too much but it'll be a nice new competitor to the mix.

My buddy works for Kia and he says that he'd rather a Kia or Hyundai over BMW or even Mercedes. He said the build quality is now on the same level and so much cheaper to deal with.

Never owned a Kia but I can say while stationed in South Korea, they do have some very nice cars and are built well. They have a bunch of old Kia's rolling around, tells me they last a long time lol. G70 looks good though!

The G80 really stacks up well against the 5 series; less fluff, solid luxury and performance with a much smaller price tag. I expect the G70 will do well in this class, especially once it irons out the handling issues.

The G70 is said to have LSD too. Looking to be a great bargain buy! But there will always be loyalists either to the BMW brand or German engineering. Sometimes there's just a certain feel when you're driving something German vs American/Japanese/Korean. Not taking anything away from other country's cars though.

its definitely on my list when the f30 is due for replacement. by then the g70 will be on its second iteration so they will have ironed out the new model issues. Youd be snobby not to recognize that genesis isnt messing around and offering a lot of car for a good value. If you really just want tech, decent power, and a comfortable ride to and from work, you should really consider this or the Kia Stinger.

It's full of value this genesis! I can't help but think that so much of the design, inside and out is taken from other brands. That really turns me off.

Just my opinion.
I was a big fan, the tech looks out dated, im talking about the font and the way the graphics work. Car was very roomy and comfortable, but it was too roomy for the AC, it couldnt cool the whole interior down. It reminded of a chinese clone, where they include all the cool features, but the features arent designed very well. People will also ask if its a bentley, since the logos resemble each other. Id take a fully loaded Toyota or Honda accord over this vehicle. Quality tech for a good price. Last edited by SMiGGs; 10-03-2017 at 02:11 PM.. |
