340i M package spacers
Hello! I was planning on putting on the H&R sport spring set and I was wondering, after that, would 15mm spacers be too much for stock suspension? If yes, how much better would 12.5mm be?

This video provides very good angles to judge for yourself what appeals to you. It uses a stock 340i XDrive with stock square BMW 400M 18x8.0 ET34 wheels and 225/45-18 Continental runflat tires. https://youtu.be/P-M1pvJ7A0Y |

I'm running the Dinan lowering springs on an F31 and with the OEM 400M 18" wheels mounted on winter tires, I use 12mm spacers up front and 15mm out back. Tires are flush, no problem at all with the suspension or xDrive. I originally ran longer lug bolts than stock to accomodate the rear spacers, but switched to studs.
You'll like it at 12/15, I suspect, and you should not have any problems.

spacers increase the scrub radius(which affects dynamic toe), increase spring rate and turn radius. the increased track width at the rear of F3/4's will also increase understeer. there's also more shear load on the lug bolts or studs. all of this is on such a small level that it is unlikely you'd notice but the physics of what is happening. just so you know, they do more than just lower offset. |
