F30 Programming recall?

Hi all,

I got notified by my dealer, that there is a programming recall for my 2017 340xi. When I asked details of the list of fixes, advisor said she was not aware. I checked Bmw recall site with my VIN, and no recall for my vehicle.

Anyone aware of programming recalls for F30?

Good, then it not just me. I guess then there must be some kind of recall. Will try and get more details when at dealership and update. Thanks

Just spoke with the service advisor.
The update is for the DME ... the current software will allow the car to over rev in park, basically no rev limiter present. In any of the drive modes it is fine, the rev limiter is present. I have an auto so no idea if it affects manuals. Also, this update will wipe out all of your coding since it will update every module to the latest version.

This is most likely SI B12 01 19 published in January 2019.

From the bulletin:

AFFECTED VEHICLES
This Service Action involves approximately 30,162 vehicles produced from 7/26/2016 to 11/29/2018.
Vehicles which require this Service Action to be completed will show it as “Open” when checked either in AIR, the "Service Menu" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or with the Key Reader.

SITUATION
In the DME control unit software, a function to protect components was incorrectly implemented. This function should protect internal engine components, in case the engine is run at high speed for too long when stationary.

Reprogramming the vehicle will cause all ECUs to receive updated software. There isn't a mechanism at least as of today to reprogram an individual ECU and it makes sense why BMW wouldn't want to do this. In many instances, the software version dependencies between different components necessitate the upgrade of all components as a group. In this instance, the group is the entire vehicle.
