Bluddy'ell... Car insurance is laughable currently!
Got my renewal from Chris Knott
Up from £407 fully comp, full protected 14 years plus NCD, no pintds or claims and driving since 2000, to £563 Social only, 8k miles only, on the drive all week etc and in a good postcode area... Just had a quick look around, comparison sites were c£600 plus, DL wanted £850, Aviva over £1k and Admiral around the same The feck is going on?!

We are just being pumped more this year than we have previously , lockdowns must have meant less accidents / claims. With insurance staff working from home they cant blame increased company utility costs so maybe they have applied their :
"Just because we can tax" so we are all getting it worked up us and the fact all insurers seem to be applying this similar tax then they know we can do F all about it. Wifes insurance went up by 50% with no circumstance changes , mine is due for the 440 + Cayenne next month so i have bought some Vaseline in preparation for the renewal date. K |

Daughter's (17) moped insurance went down from £500 last year to £320 this year with 1 years NCD, that might be a specific situation being a new driver.
Added daughter as a named driver on wife's car and insurance went up only £100, I was expecting a much bigger increase. My 335d is due for renewal in a few weeks so will have to see what the renewal quote comes back at.

Well got it down to £500 on the nose; so that's fine. We have 'upped' our annual mileage from 5-6k to c8k
Even the wife's Racing Jazz (as in 1.4 CVT asthmatic, lean forward to get up hills) insurance went up by nearly £100... Bloody daft really!

My renewal for the 440i has gone up from £520 which was a stock car to £845 with the following mods.
Remap Alloy wheels Lowered suspension Thing is Admiral never used to charge for mods like this but their renewal was £903 from £520 which is just crazy... best I have found yet on comparison sites was £845 with mods. Tried A plan tried Adrian flux they don't come close so if anyone else has any recommendations for modified cars please let me know save my bank balance a few quid. |

Agree; but no ones going to drop £200 to get down to the price from Chris Knott for me, so that's now sorted... Can't believe the c£1k quotes; what a giraffe!

Older cars no collision avoidance warning no autobrake no 360 degrees cam, theoretical perceived higher risk = increased premiums.
Newer cars cameras sensors radar lidar etc in panels and expensive wiring looms batteries bolted on as structural chassis etc = higher replacement costs = increased premium |

I was researching car insurance for the wife's 2017 Peugeot 3008 and almost saved her £200 until I added myself as the second driver and the premium went back up £200. I haven't hit any cyclists for 2 years, though I was rear ended last year and got a shiny new bumper [which BMW subsequently informed me had been fitted badly].
Car insurance would be cheaper if I stopped having accidents, regardless of whether I was to blame. |

Just had a similar issue with my renewal. £200+ increase and nothing has changed...Max No claims no accidents and same car as last year...seems to be mass inflation on car insurance..
Oh and price comparison sites all seem to be very similar so no joy there. |

I would say it's more of a cartel TBH.
There is the 'national insurance database' which they all have access to. You only have to fart loudly and it gets recorded on it. Ask me how I know? Seems it's up to the individual underwriter whether they are interested in our individual 'risk', as they all have every detail about all of us. |

Just had my demand from the cartel, 300 quid extra for the m340 plus massive increases for the house insurance as Admiral combined them all last time for a discount.
As usual sweet FA we can do about it bar having to spend time ringing round for a small discount. Hate them all. |

I haven't looked at quotes for a few months, so after reading this thread I was dreading getting quotes for my Type R which I sealed the deal on yesterday.
Best quote for me and the wife (55 and 49 respectively), loads of NCB, no points, no claims, etc. 8k miles a year................£258.00 p/a. I think it just proves that I am the best and safest driver in the UK (which I always knew of course). |

Got mine today for the Cayenne + 440i , increased by 33%. No justification that i can see , still no accidents / claims / points / circumstances etc so just another "because we (all) can tax"
Getting really pi$$ed off now with getting financially pumped at every turn : Utilities increased - 50% Insurances increased - 30% Groceries increased by at least - 40% Council tax increased - 10% Wages increased by - 6% Friday rant over - K |
