Ok so I will bite again, Master Search Jedi, sir.... If you won't reveal the vendor you used, so what are you using to search? Using the part number "bmw 63212450105" or a common description like "BMW F30 Blackline Tail Lights" in two of the biggest and most popular search engines on the internet, Google and Yahoo, yields multiple vendors, mostly non-us vendors (I used these search terms and other similar ones during my search). However, even after 6 pages in, using both search engines, does not yield a vendor with the price you posted - the cheapest I found was 398 Eur (didn't check to see if they shipped to the US though).
My fishing skills could use a bit more help....

Yahoo has no search results of its own. No web crawler. They signed a new 3 year deal to serve Google results that expires on December 31, 2018. Your results can be from Google or Microsoft on Yahoo. You wasted your time fishing the same lake. |

Your second mistake is looking for an EU only part using English words that will provide few hits as English isn't a big language in the EU. Try using Google translate to determine proper words as not all sites list BMW Parts numbers, especially in the same form factor. You were essentially relying on a part number search and few German sites are in English. |

I bought mine under 100€, got the harnesses for free from a junkyard. Anything's possible when you believe in yourself.

I don't know if somebody here already mentioned this but it seems that these lights aren't streetlegal in the us or canada.(source: genuine bmw-dealership)
Anybody had any problems yet? I don't want to meddle but I thought I should mention this... |

Other than the basic black color of the lights (i.e. the black parts) the only functional difference are the yellow turn signals vs the red ones on the original LCI lights. Rear yellow turn signals are still authorized on US roads and there are several cars, including late model cars, that have them. I can speculate that the only reason these lights are not technically DOT approved is because BMW never officially submitted them to DOT for approval - a process that takes time and money for any manufacturer to do. Now that I have these lights, I have actually noticed other car manufacturers going with a "black line style" tail light - I have seen them on quite a few Acuras and Lexus lately (and these cars were not what I would consider "enthusiasts" cars so I am pretty sure they came from the factory that way). So unless you seriously piss off your local DMV or vehicle inspection station, and they are actually smart enough to know what is legal and what is not when it comes to lights, I think you will be fine .

They're not illegal to the best of my knowledge. Had them installed for a few months now and not a single issue with the law. What makes you think that they're not legal in NA?

That said, unless your car really stands out with several custom, non-factory looking parts, like a show car for example, the chances of you getting a citation for these lights is slim to none.

@jmciver: i fully agree with you, the only reason I could think of was paperwork.
@LiquidMercury: because someone at the salesdepartement of bmw told me that. And since you can't buy them officially in NA I tend to believe him. |

I'll have to find out provincially, but truth be told, I'm not concerned. Like provinces, states are the same with regulations differing state to state or province to province. It's the same with reflectors. I've replaced my front and rears with painted ones and haven't had any issues.
[Edit] Found a MVA section that specifically discusses head and tail lamps here for our province here: http://www.bclaws.ca/EPLibraries/bcl...01#section4.15 It's pretty grey in description when it comes to reflectors and could be counter argued either way, but I have my high doubts any police officer would even bother ticketing me for any potential infractions.
