Will this Fit (First time buying aftermarket wheels/tires)

First time buying aftermarket wheels for a vehicle and I have done a solid amount of research on the forums to see what wheel setup is right for my car. The car that is getting new wheels is a 2014 328i x drive so I am planning on running a square setup. The wheel specs are 19x8.5 et35 wrapped in 255/35/19. Right now I'm on stock suspension (non m-sport) but I do plan to put the car on coilovers about a year down the road. Just want to make sure I wont experience any rubbing with this wheel setup.

it will fit without issue, even after lowering. here what it'll look like on different wheels and probably a bit lower since x-drives are higher.

This is a great question! We do have a huge selection of fitments for the F30 chassis. To help sort out what would work best for you, we have worked hard to design an entire fitment guide that details every fitment on offer for the F30 chassis!

That guide can be found here:

LINK HERE

These guides will review every fitment we offer for this chassis, we would highly recommend taking a look at this guide as it should answer all of your questions.

I hope this information was helpful. If you have any further questions, feel free to reach out to us via PM!

Best,
Max

Thanks for the link! It helps a lot to actually see it. One thing I noticed was that the car you linked me too has the m sport package and most likely the m sport suspension which my car does not have. My car has the stock sportline suspension. Will this make any difference in clearance?

your x-drive has the base suspension which is 10mm higher than the 704(m-sport) suspension and thus you car will have a larger wheel gap. typically most clearance issues occur when lowering the car, so you will not have any issues.

Hi, I am a newbie to this forum (actually this is my first time ever using forum in my life). I apologize if I am using it wrong.

I am replying it here because I didn't want to create a new thread just to ask the same question of this thread creator.

I am also buying my first wheel and tire set up and I am super nervous about it.

I am driving a 2015 435 xdrive, and trying to go with a square set up with 245/40 R18 with 8.5 et38 wheel. A couple of days ago, I called BMW dealer service center asked about this set up for any rubbing. Unfortunately the guy wasn't really helpful, and was like "ehhh it might... I'm not sure, but stock set up is the best set up..."

From the link you kindly provided, it says it is okay with this, but I am just worried if there's any interference with the struts? I roughly measured and its like 20mm from wheel to strut (currently), and offset calculator tells me 13mm closer to strut.

if this is something I should start as a new thread I will, and apologize not knowing the forum rules here.

sgrutt22,

As mentioned above, your sportline suspension will not cause any clearance issues with the fitments that have been outlined in the guide, unless otherwise stated. Your car does sit higher than the M sport cars, so clearance to the suspension will not be an issue.

Taco,

First off, welcome to the board! There is a huge wealth of information here and we hope you enjoy combing through it all!

Thank you for reaching out, per the recommendation of the guide above and the kind words from alohasurftoad, we can confirm that the square set up with 245/40-18 with on an 18x8.5 ET38 (or ET35) wheel will fit without issue on a stock 435i xDrive.

Happy modding!

@LetMeMakeYouTaco, you can even put 255/40/18 square on 18x8.5 +38. see @[Polo08816] 335i in the link

it may work but its quite tall for the f30. thats more in line with f10 sizes and the tires are 26.7" tall. im running a 235/40/19 on an 19x8.5 and it is already .3 taller than the stock 26"

ah alright i thought that a 245/40/19 tire is the same height as a 235/40/19.

Also new here and wanted a bit of help please

What are your offset values for the 19x8.5?

I’m swapping to a square set up from staggered following the dreaded juddering TC issues when changing to non RF all round. (I kept the same staggered OEM tyre size of 225/40/19 front and 255/35/19 rear so the rolling circumference is within 1% but still my xdrive says )

Still adamant on non RF so hoping that going square will make it run smoothly again.

I got a good deal on another set of rims identical to the ones I have and now I have a choice of

4x 19x8 et36 on 225/40/19

Or

4x 19x8.5 et 47 on 255/35/19

Ideally, I’d like the wider rims all round but the offset calculator is making me worried that it will rub the inside - it’s lowered too.

Will I need 12mm spacers on the 8.5 to take the offset to et35?

Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

First off, welcome to the board!

We would be more than happy to offer some guidance on this! We offer the 19x8.5" wheel with an offset of ET35.

We recommend paring this square setup with a 235/40-19 tire, although you can also use a 245/35-19 tire to maintain similar overall diameter.

The 19x8.5 ET47 wheels will need a spacer to avoid inner clearance issues on the suspension side. We have not tested out 19x8.5" ET35 fitment with a 255/35-19 tire but there is a good chance that this tire is a bit too wide and will cause issues with fender side clearance or rubbing.

We would recommend sticking with our recommended 19" Square fitment:
F/R: 19x8.5" ET35 - 235/40-19 or 245/35-19

I hope this information was helpful. If you have any further questions, feel free to reach out to us!

What do you recommend for a winter wheel/tire setup for a 2016 340i? Would like to go 18x8 but don't know what offset should be. Thanks

Thanks for the advice Max, really appreciate it.

Gutted about the 255/35/19 tyres as I already have 4 brand new ones fitted to the 19x8.5 rims... I may try them out just to see and it may save me some money.

I would have thought that, if there is no rubbing, the 255/35 would be better for the speedo as it's closest to the rolling circumference of the OEM set up (exact on the back obviously).

So basically need to keep the offset close to the stock 19x8 value of et36 to spread the extra width evenly either side of the hub.

Think I'll go for the 12mm spacers to make et47 > et35.

It may be a stupid question but do I need to do the same for the back wheels on a square set up so the offset is the same all round?

I would do the spacers both front and rear if those 19x8.5 wheels are what you are going with. Dont forget to get bolts that are 12mm longer as well

That is exactly what I would do except for the 12mm longer bolts...wouldn't you want bolts longer than that?

12mm longer than the stock bolts. Not just 12mm long.
