add me to the f36 group

hi all,

after having an e92 (or several of them) i've been away from bmw for a while

a pre-xmas crash and my seat leon estate getting written off left me looking for a new car and i couldnt help myself - i had to look at the 4 series - 2 weeks later i'm a happy owner of a carbon black gran coupe - pick it up thursday

however i just wanted to find out if i had enhanced BT to strwam bT audio from my android phone, can anyone help me figure out if this car has it? i have the VIN and i've decoded it, anythning i should look for?

cheers

I got my F36 in July 19 and was undecided between Carbon Black and Sapphire Black that were parked side by side (both pre-registered). I went for the Sapphire Black but it was a tough choice, they were both great looking cars. Looks great.

Can't help you decode it, but the good news is that extended Bluetooth can be coded to cars that aren't specced with it, although I never got around to doing mine in 30 months of owning it.

Streaming audio over Bluetooth worked fine even without extended Bluetooth, apart from a bug that seemed to be unique to my car.

You'll be fine.

My 2015 pre LCI 330d streams audio via basic Bluetooth no problem at all. Even displays full track info via Spotify (not the in car app) and can scroll up and down on playlists via the in car controls. I do have Harman Kardon but I doubt that makes any difference.

Plus 1 as above, my 2016 pre lci also streams audio plus shows all the pictures etc with basic bluetooth, you only only need the extended bt for other things like reading your texts and emails

I have basic bt but I can read and send emails (2019 LCI). Can't read texts though.

I had to set my email up from my Connected Drive account on my laptop.

Don't know why they just don't have extended bt as standard, your car must be so close, wonder if there is a setting somewhere to allow for messages as well, if not it would be very easy to code

Evening all,

I've picked my car up, BMW Auc. 65 plate carbon Black gran coupe.
Looks lovely and I was very pleased. Until......

I checked the car over before driving away.
Slight damage to rear bumper that was having a 'smart repair'. Well it's been repaired but I'm pretty sure my 5 Yr old could have done a better job.
That was the 1st thing I wanted to see, so having seen the poor repair, I scrutanised the rest of the body work.
Chips and mark all over the bloody place.

Went round the care with the salesman and agreed this needs sorted.
My question now is how far do I push this? Do I push to get near perfect paintwork? Is this likely on a 4+ year old car. Whats bmw stance on this? Any ideas?
Do I push for the stone chips (deep) to be painted over with a chip pen or do I push for the chips to disappear?

I have an overly keen eye for blemishes and they will annoy me.

To top it off I agreed to bring it back to be sorted next week, I get home and under different light, there's 2 large patches on the rear bumper that look like they've been sanded and not polished

Ruined collection day 😒

(other than that, car is awesome)

I think you have to be fairly tolerant of chips and minor blemishes on a 4 year old car, but the previously agreed smart repair is a different story and should be redone perhaps.

Mileage and price should guide how reasonable you should be wrt chips etc. A 50k miles car is inevitably going to have picked up a lot of chips of spending time on quick roads regularly. Our roads are covered in crap. A 15k mile car might be different; my own 4GC in CB was immaculate, but the price I (and the subsequent dealer sale) asked was very reflective of that.

Yeah I get that. I have said I'm not expecting perfection over the full car but surely some attempt to do something with the chips, marks etc isn't an unreasonable request
The bumper on the other hand should look perfect after a repair - total bodge job, and I'm not happy about it

The car has done 19k and I've paid a price I was happy with - expecting the body work to be made better!

That level of attention to detail would make me think hard
Yes you should expect a perfect job on the bumper.
No i don't think they will repair stone chip marks
Yes if you really like it and only drawback is cosmetic you can get it all fixed by an indy under 500 bucks
beware the cosmetics may be a red herring check tyre treads!

Lol
Everything else is in good order, i honestly think it's just the repair shop doing a half arsed job
I know I can get the chips and marks sorted and it's certainly not a deal breaker but the bumper pee'd me right off

Back in on Tuesday so I'll see what happens

On another note, how do i choose different songs/albums when streaming via BT? Is that possible?
I can only seem to skip to the next track

That is all you can do on standard Bluetooth. No idea about anything else.

via usb you can copy on to hdd and make playlists, play by albums etc. Audio quality is better than bt. I use YouTube music app and have a playlist in it stream latest songs via bt and have hdd music as backup

Going to have a play over the weekend before it goes back to BMW - to add to the paintwork ( bumper issue) the rear Passanger window got stuck open this morning. I was explicitly told this had been fixed, they clearly got the window to close and left it at that, hmmmmm

How do i know if I have id4, id5, id6? Pretty sure it'll be 4
