N55 Water Hose Flange broken, interchangeable with all N5X?

So of course when changing my OFHG, the water flange piece that connects the water hose to the head had come off in pieces. I remember for my N54 they made an aluminum replacement part, but for the N55 I could have swore that part was a little different. To my surprise, my local auto parts store has one in stock made by Dorman, and is Part # 926-905. When I checked for vehicle compatibility it basically says it's compatible with any N5X engine. Apparently the o-ring is the only thing that I'd need to swap out on this new piece, but j/w if this in fact is an interchangeable item?

Part in reference

Thanks!

It would appear so, I changed mine on my N55 last month and it was also comparable with a ton of other models, just check out the fitment notes on it:

https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...hc0609#fitment

So you should be fine

When you look up at part at realoem.com it shows all models and years it was used in.

Thanks!
Don’t transfer the old o-ring. Get a new o-ring.

Edit: looked up the part #. It is a kit and should come with a new oring

So it does come with an o-ring, but as many of the reviews suggested, it's too large. Luckily I have a set of o-rings on hand (Amazon for like $5), and I found the perfect fitting one.

I've highlighted the proper o-ring for the water flange in the images, hopefully will save someone the time and hassle in the future lol.

FCP Euro and ECS Tuning, etc. all have similar replacement billet aluminum Mickey Mouse coolant flanges for N55 Engines for your F3X BMWs. They come with all the hardware you need: rubber washer, bolts, and spring hose clamp. Use a spring hose clamp, since it maintains tension as the hose shrinks over time. the hose clamps with a screw might have to be tightened over time as the hose shrinks, with the potential for leaks.

Also pick up a gallon of coolant and distilled water, since you might need to do a full coolant flush.

Cheers

Cannot say enough about replacing the N55 coolant flange proactively. Just had it done on the family 2015 BMW X5 with N55 engine.

Just buy a new hose from the dealer with the plastic flange. Your current hose is old and Dorman is kinda iffy as a parts broker.
