raichean, did you ever try Torque on the unit to see how well it performs?

I am able to install and run Torque, but I will need to pick up a new OBD2 adaptor. The module I have is BT, which isn't compatible with the F32 display, but the WIFI adaptor will work.

I want to keep using my factory Microphone for my phone, as it is just closer and better. If i am using a navigation map on the avinusa screen, and someone calls my phone. Will i be able to pick up the phone using the idrive/steering wheel button. And then talk on the phone while the navigation app is running? (Very important for me that i can still pick up the phone, then using the factory Bluetooth and MIC while navigating.) - I would imagine that the built in microphone in the screen wont be very good, and i am not interested in fitting a new external one, as i have a perfect one already installed in the car.
I am also often on the radio screen, while the navigation is running. Then before i have to make a turn etc, the Oem system will show up on the screen showing where i have to turn. Is this also possible? As i have read, bluetooth from the cars radio does not work while android screen is running. This is all that is keeping me from ordering this tomorrow, as it looks really good, and will be a welcome upgrade visually for the car. |

I know this thread is probably dead, but I have a few questions:
* What shows up on the display in the instrument cluster while playing media in Android mode? * Does the scroll wheel on the steering wheel have the same input to the display as the iDrive controls? * What happens if you press one of the buttons around the iDrive control? Where do they go? Does the back button work? * Can you change where the music tile goes to? I would like Spotify to be the default player. Would I have to go into the apps section each time to launch it? * Has anyone tried using Tasker with this? * What's the most non-standard app you've installed/used on it? |

I've been using this unit for a few months now and so far it's not bad. Sound quality is great and the Android side of things is very easy to use and I've had no issues.
My 2 main gripes that Avin just doesn't seem interested in helping with are that the iDrive image is not centered and it cuts off the very top of the image/text that's on the screen. Avin does not have a fix and just tells me to try other car models in the submenu to see if one looks better to me (none fix the issue). The other problem is that when you press the voice command button on the steering wheel it switches you from iDrive to Android and launches your navigation app. Voice commands still work in spite of this thank goodness. Avin has no fix for this and they do not respond when asked for an update. I do not think that I will be keeping this unit long-term. I'm debating whether to put my factory screen back in or spend the money for an iDrive 6 retrofit. If you can live with the quirks then it is a nice piece of equipment. |
