Just get the kidneys carefully out, clean the rods, buy the wrap and cut out 2 stripes á 370 x 80mm. Position adhesive first on backside of the rods and start your way wrapping around it.

yes. body shop used radiator paint in matte black which i provided.

Like a strut brace makes the car more rigid for cornering. Putting a red wrap on them looks cool.

RICE - If you just have to paint them try flat black & make them go away.

Would not take them out they are a reinforcement will keep the rattles out of the front end.

I think it looks a bit awkward and out of place having something like that be visible through the kidneys. Looks a lot cleaner with it black. To each his own though, it's a harmless enough mod.

Its a very odd 2018. I just recently noticed them because of a X3 video review. Then i went to a dealership and i couldnt help but noticed them everywhere. Better not to tell anyone about this.

LOL!!! I havent heard RICE in a looong time. So these bars are, but the grills, spoilers, lips, splitters, diffusers, burble exhausts, lowering springs, spacers, etc. are not? Pretty sure rice becaming tuning at some point in the past decade. This would be a great topic on its own though...

RICE - Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancement.

Originally used to describe sports cars of Asian manufacture which have heavy cosmetic modifications and little or no internal modifications.

So yeah a lot of what is done to BMW's would qualify as RICE as they have no real functionality.

You may be stating Rice by "definition" but it is often used as a despective term of bad taste mods. Such as, underglow lights, silly decals, huge spoilers , emblems everywhere, etc.

I dont think that wrapping these bars are rice at all.

I personally like them and the best thing is that you can just remove the wrap anytime.

It is a ricey mod. You're accenting parts of your car for no reason. IMO they look awkward enough as is, so making it red or neon yellow so it stands out is pretty tacky. I haven't seen a single car where it doesn't look out of place.

I don't cosign with that acronym definition of rice. It comes from the word race, so it's just a play on words. You have racers, and fake racers (ricers) who do things similar to racers but just for looks. It's just coming back in style to be a ricer, so everyone is running wide wheels and crazy aero because it "looks aggressive." But just because you like it or the body panels aren't falling off, doesn't make it less rice.

Vinyl wrap, like Di Noc. Not winding tape around it like an Ace bandage on your ankle.

I like the idea of this. I sell 3M Scotchlite Black reflective (reflects white) and am going to wrap them in this. Just waiting for some new kidney grills to turn up so I can wrap them at the same time. Will post photos when fitted

(I'll just be wrapping the bars... not the grills!)

Not if you use radiator paint which made for this application. Many vehicles now come with "blackbacking" from the factory because seeing the fins or coolers takes away from the overall look of the vehicle. In addition if your vehicle has some mileage on it and the fins are bent or damaged I recommend purchasing a fin comb and straightening them out before painting to improve the cooling and restore the original look/function.

I wasnt going to wrap mine because I have a tricolor grille and thought it would either take away from it or look like too much is going on, But after seeing it together with a tricolor Grille it actually looks pretty good. I may reconsider. Subbed!
