ignition controlled power source for dash cam
As the thread is titled !!!, I have an f31 and need to find a suitable fuse to tee into that's reasonably easy to access , to hard wire a dash can .
Must be quite a few bods out there that have done the same . I'm new to the vehicle and am still finding my way round it !!! |

The cam in my F31 is powered from the lights in the roof. I can't remember the colour of the wire, but a simple multimeter would help you find the right ones to tap in to.

I've just done this Monday. Under the glove box is a 12v power socket, the trim it's mounted in is held on with two 10mm bolts, undo those, pull the trim forwards and down and you can either use connectors to clip your wires in or use piggy back crimps. Centre terminal is +.
I then routed the wire up the side of the dash under the door seal and up the screen pillar, under the headlining and out to the camera behind the mirror. Kill the ignition and the power to the dash cam shuts down around 15 mins later
