Talk me out of this
Well i would sit down with dealer work out a payment you can afford. Honestly you will be happier with a payment you can live with. Im sure if they want to sell the car they will work with you.. If its reasonable GO FOR IT...

If you're going to upgrade, you might as well get a LCI or newer model. If you can hold off, you should see some better deals next year...

Sounds like your mind is already made up. I agree with the other member to at least go with a LCI. There should be more on the market as people start buying the G20.

I disagree with you. The dealer is always going to find a payment you can afford. Even if it means financing a 6 year old car for 7 years. Check sources like true car,cars.com. Make sure the price is good. Then check 3 or 4 years financing at a reasonable interest rate. You should never negotiate based on payment. They will always figure out a way to make it “affordable “. Good luck.

I wouldn't do it.
- First year in a house; there's always surprise expenses. Live in the new place for at least a year then figure out if a new car is possible. - Higher running cost for the 6 cylinder. - I sure hope you're not upside down on your current loan. |

Do not do that deal. Another car will come along, the house is your immediate priority. You are not even clear title on the 2011. Be smart instead of impulsive (so I say!!).

Pre-LCI to LCI is much more than just cosmetic. These are just some of the changes from pre-LCI to LCI:
> Re-tuned power steering > New front struts > Uprated rear dampers > 5 point mounting (opposed to three) > Revised 8 speed gearbox > Front LED's and design changes to rear's > Upgraded interior materials > Slightly different rear and front bumpers Also new four and six cylinder powerplants. |

Of course. YOLO--justifies anything! What else will you need your money for with a new house, anyway? Debt on a 7 year old car--so what?! Dig deeper! Go big or go home.

I'd wait if I were you. It's not the cost of the car that's a problem, it's the potential maintenance on an out of warranty 335i. It's a relatively reliable car, but when you buy a used car, you never know what you're getting. The previous owner could have sold it because of maintenance issues or impending services they didn't want to do.
Also, the first rule of responsible car buying is to NEVER concentrate on the payment. Look at the total cost of the car. It should be something you can pay off in a relatively short period of time (1-3 years) and the used car loan should be below 5%. The rest doesn't really matter all that much. You shouldn't just be trying to fit the monthly payment into your monthly budget. You're also right about the price. Even my 2014 335i 6MT with 25k miles and still on CPO would realistically only go for about $25k retail. The 2013 should be closer to $20k. |

Plus, the 2011 328i has better steering and a reliable drivetrain for long term ownership. Certainly it's not as fast, but the NA 6 is smooth, stable and has enough.
If you are having good luck with your current car, keep enjoying it and get it paid off. Your car is certainly something you can keep enjoying, especially with no car payment.
