Heck if I could get my hands on a 340 wagon, then I’d tweak the b58 engine, add kw’s and those rims with similar offset and it would be pretty nice. If I could only get a 340 wagon, stick would be a bonus. I could even live with x-drive being I’m in canuckistan. It wouldn’t have those flaired fenders nor the front/rear/hood though and couldn’t fit the wide tires either...arrrgh. Maybe have to go x3m with a drop? Is that even possible, I’ll go through the x forums to find out.

If it’s a 318d, 325d, 330i, 340i all the bodyshells are exactly the same.
An M car bodyshell has 2 extra Little brackets(£20 each) one each side for the front cradle, 2 extra brackets for the rear exhaust back box.
Every bodyshell has the hole for 6sp manual transmission, with Dct it has a plastic blank over the hole.
Obviously the rear arches are wider but there cosmetic.
Everything from the F80 just bolted straight in.

People love to talk the talk. If it was actually for sale very few would actually walk the walk....so divide that number by 5 and you'll find the actual number of people who'd buy it out of them..

The fact is even between the F80 M3 and F82 M4 the M3 is the far more practical and significantly better looking option but it's outsold by the M4 at a scale of something like 6 to 1.
Yeah, BMW did commented the reason they do not build M5 wagon anymore because the sales were horrific when they tried with the E34 and E60 platform, global sales were just a little over 1000 cars both platform combined.

Businesses is all about numbers, if BMW think it would sell they would have done it, but their past experiences told them no.

Of course some might say every car generation is different, perhaps F10 or F90 would fare differently, maybe so, but I guess BMW doesn't want to be bothered with it.

I am surprised a niche tuner hasn't supported this market with regular wagon to m wagon conversions. Seems like they could easily crank out 100+ cars / year.

Manhart Racing did in th E91 form.
They built around 10 I think with the M5 V10 motor in.
€120,000
Everything was bought new from bmw for the conversion.

I think when it comes down to it there are not enough willing to pay the money the conversion would cost.

As an unabashed lifetime member of the wagon mafia, I cannot congratulate you two lucky sods enough.

Those are two stunners with the performance to back up the looks. Excellent work all around!

How many B3 and B5 touring do Alpina sell per year? That’d give an estimate at least

The F81 is money... I just picked up my F31 and I'll be looking to do this transformation to mine soon. Only difference is that I'll run the full PSM Dynamic carbon kit like I ran on my F80.

For anyone interested, I'm sure someone could commission 63NP to build another E91M or F81M. I could cover the US west coast since I've got one under my belt already haha!

But the reality is that once people start seeing how much it really costs to build.. they probably won't be as gung ho about the process.

I'd like to know how much hard work it would be to take an F10 M5 and an F11 535i and mash them together. We don't really get the F11 550i here - we could import them from Japan but only a few turn up a year for sale.

Unfortunately, there's zero appetite for these cars. The 5-series estate and the A6 estate are long gone in the US. The 3-series estate will be gone soon, also. There's the E-class that's still holding strong, along with the Audi A4.

As you saw with Ford, there's little appetite (in their eyes) for estates. I'd personally love to have an E63 estate at some point. Gorgeous vehicles.
