How come you just didn't ask them?
Does it not say on the paperwork?

I asked for paperwork and they said because it's warranty work there's isn't a invoice they can give me. I was hoping anyone with technical know how would see from the pic and tell me. I can see what I suspect is the egr valve looks like it has been replaced too

Garage List
Looks like a new egr cooler to me. Correct, a new valve comes fitted to it.

If you ask them for a specific piece of paperwork to go with your personal car history file you keep, saying what work has been carried out they will give it to you.

I did exactly this when my rack was replaced under warranty, doesn't have to be an invoice. After all they must produce some paperwork for it!

That EGR valve is certainly different to the one on my 30D. Looks like they've replaced it.

You are lucky to be in the UK! US dealers have no EGR coolers for the recall. My local dealer says their technical service bulletin says in big, red letters "no repair possible at this time." My cooler is leaking exhaust badly, which is picked up by the air conditioning system - I need two windows open to drive the car.

I just bought a used cooler from the UK on ebay.

Given that it is an emissions part, are BMW going to cover it under the 8 year/60k mile rule? It sounds like your car is a gas chamber on wheels, I'd be riding BMW corporate for a loaner at their expense.

I have heard that they are extending the coverage to more years/miles, but I haven't seen an official BMW statement. I have 106K miles on my 2014 328d, so I'm likely to be left out. The used cooler unit unit has been 1200 miles, so it should be good for a while.

I've talked with BMW USA twice and the local dealer several times - 4 calls and one visit. Not much help from either source - they didn't advise not to drive the car, they said they would call back with a loaner offer but forgot about it a day later, they made a service appointment when I visited in person and then cancelled it without telling me, saying when I called to confirm the appointment, that the cancellation was because of lack of parts.

In the midst of all this I bought a '15 diesel Passat, figuring that with a 1.6 million unit parts shortage, the F30 would be undriveable for months. I was very grateful to find the used cooler in the UK.

It's a safety recall, I'd have thought mileage is irrelevant myself.

My car has done 83k miles. There's been no talk of me having to pay anything and I won't be either.

Waited for the parts since Jan,was told the valve would be replaced but the paperwork states only the EGR cooler was changed (yesterday) fair enough if this all one unit inc the valve why would they consciously use different terminology between the assessment and waiting for parts.

EGR Cooler parts STILL not available

My 328d has been at the dealership since January 15 - 3 months. They wouldn't accept if for EGR cooler recall work until January - it failed in November. No horizon for parts availability. No loaner car.

The used cooler I bought from UK was a scam - had signs of very high mileage and was not compatible with my EGR system. Paypal refunded my purchase price after the seller refused to accept the return.

Check if your coolant level in expansion tank is going low for no apparent reason! If it is; it's likely EGR cooler is inducing coolant; in which case, force the dealer to do it! If coolant level has never gone low; it's likely your EGR cooler is still functioning ok. Mine was defective, I did everything with the dealer via email, & they changed it FOC! Car had 102k miles at the time, and full dealer history. Good luck

No loaner car would have me straight to the local media. Embarrass the crap out of BMW USA ASAP.
