headrest mount is nice, but think I prefer the suction cup mount for the exterior.

The seats move too much to make them a viable location for a camera mount.

Is that a F30 thing ?
No problem with other BMW models and seat mounted cameras.

As do I...usually.

Have you ever tired to attach the suction cup to the front bumper cover? Once you find a spot that can attach the flat suction cup, then you will have a video that looks like it was shot with a camera taped to the back of a rabid squirrel. The bumper cover is plastic and has no reinforcement behind it to give rigidity. The camera will vibrate.

I was working on a project to fabricate a mount for the GTI using the tow hook by welding a plate to the tow hook for the suction cup.

This is a nicer solution and I for one will be ordering one shortly. I just attach the suction to the sunroof for inside shots (the software I use can rotate the image upright). Not as good as the headrest mounts, but cheaper.

This, you just have to carefully pinch some prongs together and slide it out. And mine is already off as I use a tow hook mount for the plate. LOL

My present forward-facing camera solution is to suction cup to the iDrive display. I use iPhones, but a GoPro would be the same.

Is there an option for a normal camera mount? I use a Sony and they choose to stick with a normal camera mount.

Same here

I went with a suction mount instead and just mount it to the sunroof glass which hangs the actioncam upside down

You can make a headrest mount for $5 and some creativity.

Not really. I've been using mine a few times now, its not BMW's but its similiar, also mounts to the headrest. If anything, its TOO stable, lol. Doesn't really convey what you're feeling too well when you watch it because everything is so stable and smooth.

I just suction cup mine to the sunroof works great and no need for headrest mount. can mount it even further back and extend it lower if necessary. I guess you could similarly suction it to the back window too.

image is slightly cropped btw.

I just tried mine in the back window at Track nite and it seemed to be too far back to really capture anything. Then Tried the go pro suction mount on inside of drivers side back passenger window and got some decent shots.

I have one that I made, I just wanted to see his version because that one is a little closer to the seat that you mount it on.

Perspective from suction cup to the iDrive screen.
Added more cameras this year so I have an interior shot.
