Boost on stock set-up

Hello all.

Just got done wrapping up a custom tune on my N20. Car feels fantastic with great timing & great AFR. My MAP is hitting low 21s, though. IATs are good (current weather helping).

Running stock IC and all stock components. Stock gapped plugs changed 500 miles ago.

Am I too aggressive here? Tune is a 91 octane tune running 93 octane. Can i scale back my boost via the BM3 Map config (boost by gear reduction) if I want to scale it back a hair?

Thanks to the community in advance.

If it tells you run 91 I would run 91. BM3 has separate octane settings for a reason. For the boost that's fine jb4 runs 22 psi on stage 1 but a charge pipe is recommended because those plastic ones are crappy

Iirc, you can run higher octane fuel on a lower octane map but not vice versa (lower octane fuel with a higher octane map).

Yea but at the point I would just go with the 93 tune because there is 2 options unless you didn't buy the full bm3 pack

True. Problem is that in some states I believe you don't get 93 octane fuel (only lower). If someone lives somewhere where 93 octane/e85 is easily available, it makes more sense. If not, it's easier to stick to a lower octane map but run higher octane fuel when available.

Dont have to change the chargepipe. Hasn't been a single recorded instance of the chargepipe exploding, or cracking on the N20/N26 platform in the entirety of the F30 Forum. Mainly a must have for N55, and just nice to have for peace of mind on the N2X.
As for the fueling, if you're running 93 in a place with notoriously bad fuel (ex. Cali, Az, etc.) better off to switch to the 91 ACN tune.

In depth thread about fueling and BM3 Tunes.

I agree! I'm doing mine when I upgrade my FMIC, but I live in a colder climate so its not at the top of my priorities.

I see we have very similar cars in that case i recommend the VRSF charge pipe, it was pretty simple install and uses OEM o ring

from what i read ARM is the best bang for your buck in terms of cooling and productivity. there is other more expensive options like CSF etc.../ What is your exhaust setup because i wanna go catless but i have a muffler delete i dont want it to be super loud

I've got the Valvtronic F30 exhaust. It's loud but not obnoxious. And obviously you can force close the valve with BimmerLink.

In my opinion, the best value combo is the MAD charge pipe and 7" (HD) intercooler for stage 2.

The best quality is the Evolution Racewerks combo.
