Brakes stuck on after dashcam fitting

Today I had Hyde Park Corner (Halfords' third-party fitters) install a Nextbase dashcam to my 335d. After fitting I went out and checked it all worked, which it did fine.

However, tonight I went out to drive to the shops and trying to pull away it felt like the handbrake was fully on (it wasn't). Then when I tried to switch the car off it just restarted.

Then it dawned on the that the brake pedal was fully depressed and if I slid my foot under it I could lift it up and the car was free to move.

I've phoned Halfords and neither of us can contact the fitters. They're being very reluctant to accept any liability and I have to get to work Monday somehow.

I'm assuming the two events are connected, but can't work out how.

I've a friend who is going to pop round and connect his diagnostic kit to see if it picks up any codes.

Other than that, any ideas?

That's my next step. I'm just a bit worried about them saying it's all to do with the dashcam fitting and refusing to help/fix it.

I can't see any way that it would be connected to the Dashcams! More likely just a coincidence, call out BMW assist and don't even mention the Dashcams.

Well if it is to do with the dash fitting you can then be sure to get it sorted via Halfords.
I rather have BMW look at it first.

I can't get my head around how it could be connected. Maybe it is coincidence.

Was it via the fuse box or just straight into the socket under the glovebox?

Errm. My mate popped round ready to plug into the OBD. He'd checked out RealOEM and seen there was a return spring at the top of the pedal which might be at fault. He looked in the footwell and discovered that a piece of trim that hadn't been replaced properly was wedged against the brake pedal and was forcing it down.

Problem solved!

Was also on this line of thought, "something has been moved, misplaced" before I got to this post.... glad it's sorted.

Hyde Park Corner are rough as hell, would never let them near a car of mine, I know them well and know the owner!

Because I had no idea how else it could've happened. It was their fault, not putting the car back together properly.

The only trim you need to remove is that under the passenger foot well, This could of ended pretty badly.

I have been in the Auto Electric industry since 1987, audited them doing telematics work and cellular car kits over the years. All very poor workmanship.

Hope you have reported the issue to Halfords? The owner of Hyde Park Corner is a guy called Shaun McEntee.
