Text in car reading app.

For years I've been running an old clunker of a Window phone and it worked seamlessly with my cars idrive. One good feature was it read out text while on the move.

Now with my Samsung android phone. I no longer have this handy feature.

Are there any good apps out there that might facilitate such things?

iDrive has an option to read out emails or texts.

Failing that, there's an app called "Tasker" and you can programme your phone to do pretty much anything you like - such as reading out messages. I used to do this when on my motorbike, so it'd read stuff that arrives to me through my bluetooth lid speakers. You can also get it to automatically respond saying that you're driving and will respond ASAP.

It can also be set to only do certain things when connected to certain wifi, or bluetooth, in an a certain geofenced location, etc. Pretty nifty.

Plenty of guides on how to write the codes for various scenarios online.

I just ask Siri on the voice control button to read me the text. Though not Android!

Google Assistant will do the same, as will Samsung's version, Bixby (even if it does have an utterly crap name).

But, if you want to do it automatically whenever your phone is connected to your car, TASKER.....as I said several posts above.

As for reading texts in cars for me I'm not a fan of drivers being anymore distracted than they are already.

Having just come back from another 420 mile run today it's a jungle out there!

From what I can make out. And I'm obviously no expert.All of these apps require you leaving the phones screen unlocked. Or within voice range. My old phone didn't require this and play the text speech through the cars speakers. Even though the phone was in my pocket.
