Thank you for the links. Took a while to figure it all out, but the instructions are fantastic. I’ve been able to code quite a few things, but a couple others that I was crossing my fingers for (e.g., blinkers in HUD and WiFi hotspot) don’t seem like they are going to work in my car. Probably a hardware limitation...
Just out of curiosity, if I make a backup of my files after I’ve done the coding, then I get a software update done at the dealership, do you know if I can restore the backup files? Or do I have to recode every option again? Thanks! |

If dealer programs you car, ECU will get a new CAFD, and restoring backed up coding data from old CAFD "A" into new CAFD "B" is not wise. They may not be aligned.

It's been a while, good to see you're still active in the scene. I had a whole list of FDL codings, after a "small upgrade" my BMW 4 started to sound the horn when I closed the car while the engine was still running. Most of my codings were still intact, some vanished. I was absolutely not amused by the change... Ffwd to couple of days ago, car had to go in for maintenance and I requested to return it to the factory state it came with. Boy oh boy was I in for a surprise, they requested a special "code" with BMW AG to remove the HONKHONK and did a "full reprogram" if I understood correctly, all my codings are gone, but the bizarre thing is all my "normal user" settings are still intact (like the shortcuts you can put on the numbers 1-8 on the dash)... Sometimes when I go to my other dealer they did "an upgrade" and all my "normal user settings" (like those shortcuts) were gone but my codings still intact. Last time I coded my car was almost 2 years ago (16/02/2018) and I used the cheat sheet here https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1020138 . Turned out pretty good, everything was clear. What's the state of the union today, which guide is best to use? Do you mind sending me the latest bits and bytes use-able for my 2015 4 GC? Thanks in advance, and all the best! |

No new Guides. Most Cheat Codes are integrated into E-Sys Launcher now. PM sent.

Thanks! I figured... which is probably why everybody seems to have their own version of the Cheatsheet to track what they’ve done.

Just a FYI, it seems the October 2018 update for Win 10 (1809) adds a bunch of security which prevents E-sys launcher from sending the pin to e-sys.
You will get two pop-up dialog boxes saying the launcher was unable to connect. I played with running as admin, setting the two folders to admin access, but the best I could get was one pop up, e-sys starting, but unable to read coding values due to the missing pin. I reformatted to Windows 10 version 1607, and all was well again. |

Hi,
Newbie here, this is my first post. Just got my degree in computer science, applications development. I'm interested in customizing the cars system. My goal is to make something like Cobb accessport for Subaru STI's but for BMW and Porsches. I'd like to integrate a boost gauge, afr gauge, etc. into the car's navi screen and HUD. Not sure if that's even possible or even within my abilities. Anyways, this is my first step into automotive software. If anyone has any information, hints, or recommendation on books to read, anything. Please pm. Shawn, can you send me the download link? Thanks. |

Update is relative. To know if there is an update it would require knowing car's current I-Level, which you do not provide.
