Wait for it.......
Another EV vs ICE 'debate'? I had to Google 'EV9' as never heard of it. I found some pictures of a big, ugly, boxey Kia starting from £65k. Is that it? |

If I needed 7 seats I'd probably add it to the list, you can imagine lots of them on the school run!
As for big ugly and boxy, isnt that the form these days...? and £65k is a bargain these days - son in law is demoing an i5 currently, only the 40 version I think, and with options that is £84k ... and also boxy and ugly! Mat Watson likes the EV9, by the way... |

Not really, when you consider that for more than half the population that would be more than two years salary even before deductions...
I don't think any cars are realistically in the "bargain" territory these days, to be honest...

Indeed. It has come to something when you need to be 'well off' to afford a Kia.

Is anything at all a bargain these days? Apart from refueling your car for less than 4p a mile |

Saw one in the wild yesterday, feck me it’s some size. Makes the X7 look quite svelte by comparison. Designed by someone who clearly has an issue with curves.

I’d have one in a flash.
KIA has nothing to be ashamed of these days, or for many years now. They’re well built, reliable, very practical, highly specced, on-trend in terms of styling (many would say that the EV6 and EV9 are quite bold), generally accurate EV range figures, and are still competitively priced. I’d argue that prices of other EVs and hybrids are high. The baby Jeep EV is knocking £40K, BMW (retch-fest) XM >£100K, LR Defender easily £100K.

7 seats of the x7 and ev drivetrain of ix could be an all in 1 replacement for both and 7 years warranty is must for ev. Bimmer 3 year warranty doesn't cut it for newer models full of tech and things to go wrong.
Plan of action is test drive followed by 'call me whenever you are able to offer 20% off list price for the fully optioned top model'. What does the panel think.... |

Saw one on the way to work this morning in Giffnock. It's certainly got presence... it wouldn't be for me, but I can see the appeal if you're thinking of replacing both the iX and X7 with one. That would leave you space on the drive for something tasty for the weekend

Really don't like the look of that, it's a big Postman Pats van.
They used to say the 2 series Volvo's were aerodynamic bricks but this thing is on a new scale!.... Well I guess the plus point with the slab front is that you can get it very close to a wall without damage. |

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that, but my eye says - fugly.
I remember when people used to buy those poo brown Mercedes 190Es back in the day, but I look at them now and think, hmmmmm.....that colour is kinda cool Maybe these modern ugly cars will grow on us. For that money I'd rather have the Ioniq 5 N if exploring far eastern options. Last edited by TurboWeasel; 04-25-2024 at 08:48 AM.. |
