F30 M Performance style rear diffuser fitment
Hey guys,
Can anyone tell me how the fitment is of the M Performance style rear diffusers that are floating around eBay? Can anyone recommend one over the other? Thanks! Last edited by MyE92; 05-13-2020 at 12:01 AM.. |

Not sure if you're looking for an m-performance style diffuser with dual out. I got mine off of an eBay seller Ikonmotorsports for my 340xi. The fitment was, i'd say 98%. Installing it took some effort, especially aligning with the existing m-sport bumper holes. I'd suggest using a ramp or having your car on jack stands to make the job easier for yourself. Overall, I'm happy with the way it turned out.
Link for the eBay diffuser I bought. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fits-12-18-...72.m2749.l2649

The one I bought had perfect fitment. Even the body shop was surprised at the fitment.

eBay. Can't find the listing anymore.
IIRC, it was like 90 bucks, hydro dipped carbon fiber. I just got a new diffuser so I'm probably going to sell that one for like 40 bucks or something. Just been too lazy to post on the classifieds over a $40 part.

Agree, fitment looks great. Kudos for taking such a well-focused and well-lit shot, too. Most ppl post pics of their rear end from too far away and in shadows and/or with terrible lighting.
Btw, where'd you get the BSM reflectors?

i got mine off ebay from ikon motorsports i believe. fitment was great. started at the center and took the reflectors off (to wrap them anyway) and it was easy to get the clips in. Took all of 10 minutes

You can find body painted reflectors from one or two sources but it's been a couple years so I don't recall, or even know if they are still being sold. I suggest finding a local paint shop that does a lot of BMWs. Look up local BMW mechanics on BimmerShops and call them for paint shop recommendations. Often they all recommend the same paint shop. There is one near me that does all of the scratch and dent paint work for BMW dealers. Buy new reflectors from a place like GetBMWParts or remove your stock reflectors. Take them to the paint shop and ask them to paint them whenever they shoot your body color. No rush, so they aren't setting up to paint them special for you. They should do them cheap for you. And if you have a common BMW color, then it should only take a week or two. I did my front fender reflectors too. See photos |

Now...about that Kies diffuser. Since I responded to your last post a couple weeks ago, I bought one from ebay and while it looks pretty darn good both off and on the car, fitment wasn't great. It felt like it was actually a little bit too small, believe it or not. It barely reached between the two sides of the bumper (where it's oriented vertically) and the tabs along the top were pushed down too far so it was almost impossible to get them all to click into place...and indeed, a few of them never did click all the way in. It probably sounds weird, but it's almost like it would've fit much better if it was just a few mm larger in each dimension. That said...did you have any issues like this with the Kies version? Or did it literally just slide right into all the grooves and slots perfectly like an OEM piece would? If so, I may return this one and buy one from Kies. But I don't want to go through that hassle if I'm going to have the same problem with the Kies verison. Here's the one I bought...buyer beware! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rear-Diffus...72.m2749.l2649

It fits great after you do that as I had the same issue. Read a thread or two and that's what people said was the problem. I happened to buy the gloss black version however. Excuse the dirty car. 2013 M sport for reference :

I almost wonder if these are all made in the same factory in China. If they are, the good vs bad fitment is really just a roll of the dice rather than getting one from a "good" vs a "bad" vendor (since all vendors may be carrying the exact same product). And I don't just mean eBay, but that could also Kies and Mod Bargains and all the other ppl selling M Perf replicas.

Lesson learned: Ebay Advanation diffuser = BAD Ebay Ikon diffuser = GOOD P.S. They were definitely not the exact same product as one another. While they looked basically identical from the outside, they had different markings and stamps on the inside of the diffuser. I know this b/c I actually ordered the Ikon version before I returned the Advanation version so I pulled the Advanation one off and immediately reinstalled the Ikon version so I was able to look them over side-by-side.

I got an aftermarket one and tbh it fit maybe like 90% but that was enough to bother the shit out of me. Felt like it made the car look cheap. Ended up buying the oem one from bmw and had it painted.
